Guest fountainhall Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Delighted to see you are back posting. I first got wind of a J W Marriott offer back in July last year and will spend 6 nights there at the start of April at a rate of A$86 per night, which is even more amazing than the one now on offer. http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/7956-le-meridien-khao-lak-travelzoo-offer/ Since then I have posted a similar offer (75% off) at the old Four Seasons in Tokyo (now renamed the Chinzanso Hotel) which I will use in May. http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/8370-stunning-75-off-travelzoo-offer-for-tokyo-luxury-hotel/ And thanks to a friend in London who gets the Travelzoo special offers for Europe, we’ll be getting 60% off one of Russia’s best hotels, the Corinthia in St. Petersburg, when we are there in August. I love travelzoo precisely because it very occasionally has offers that other sites just cannot match, even though these may only come up every couple of months or so. Also, whilst the vouchers are non-refundable, it often offers a degree of flexibility despite having to pay for the vouchers very far in advance. May I suggest, though, that merely posting a link to a travel site offer usually does not paint a true picture. The present Marriott offer may give 71% off rack rates and some additional freebies, but few people book any hotel’s basic rate. As noted in the 2 posts above, I do suggest some form of comparison is especially helpful to readers – if only because “71% off” can frequently be misleading. For example, compared to prices on other sites, the present travelzoo offer for low season rates at the Marriott is vastly less than 71%. The skoosh travel site offers 3 nights at the hotel at a total of US$379.24 – and that’s including taxes, service and breakfast for 2. Compared to this, the travelzoo offer represents only an 18% reduction. Still worthwhile, but nothing like 71%! Quote
