Guest scottishguy Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Even at my advancing age and expanding waistline, I can still crouch down and also bend over. One of the ways this comes in handy is when I'm in Pattaya and decide that a jaunt to the 10 pin bowling alley would be a good idea.. The plan is for each of the farang party to bring his "boy special of the night before " and we will pass the afternoon drinking towers of Chang, eating fast food nibbles, and playing about 5 games in all. This can take up to 4 hours and is good fun, and the boys seem to enjoy it. The trouble is, this activity is normally planned the evening before when copious amounts of whisky have been consumed by all. In the haze of the next day's hangover and when it gets to leaving the hotel for said trip - I can never remember which Bowling Alley I like and even if whether the one I like is actually in Phuket and not Pattaya at all. Inevitably my friend and I will end up somewhere and say "No, this isn't the right place" So....can anybody list/recommend the various venues in Pattaya. I seem to remember there's one called PS Bowl, and another within an entertainment complex - but these could be one and the same!! Photos would help enormously in identifying each Also, are there any 10 pin venues in BKK? As I say, I know there's at least one in Phuket - within Jungceylon? - and now i think about it, that might be the one within the entertainment centre I thought was in Pattaya - see what I mean? Apart from helping jog my memory, all contributions would be useful for others who might be interested in a fun way to pass an afternoon. I await the fruits of your collective knowledge with interest. Quote
TotallyOz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Even at my advancing age and expanding waistline, I can still crouch down and also bend over. That is good! I wish I could do the same! As for bowling in Pattaya, I really love an afternoon bowling and the boys always like Major at The Avenue. It is called Blu Bowl I think. It is at The Avenue on 2nd Road. The music is always loud and the place is usually full but it is always a good time. If my memory serves, there are at least 4 bowling alleys on 2nd Road. One up near Soi VC, the one mentioned at The Avenue and the one down near Soi 6 and one down a bit farther on the right. The one at The Avenue is always the busiest, loudest and most active. It is convenient as all the boys know where it is and I also love the pool hall downstairs. I think had a thread here about the pool hall although I can't seem to find it right now. Like you, I also love bowling and while my waist is bigger than yours most likely, I too can can down and dirty bowling. I usually bowl great the first game and then go downhill after that as my fingers get tired and my manicured nails start to break. I have enjoyed bowling in Pattaya a great deal. If in Bangkok, there are tons of places and the one I went to last time was at Siam Paragon. It is very clean and nice and convenient. We have been to a few others but I can't remember where they were as the boys found them and picked them out. Quote
Guest anonone Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I have always gone to Blu, as it seems to be the one BF likes. (This is the one upstairs, next to Movie Cinema, right?) I am horrible with remembering this stuff...have to save all the memory space for bars...now those I know the names of. LOL I have pictures from there...but on the road at the moment and not able to post now. Give me a day or two and I can get them uploaded. It is a fun time, but I usually end up with awful wrist/forearm pain as I do not bowl often...and don't think about it when drinking up hike playing, I also seem to recall some other brand of draft beer being served there...not the usual Chang/Leo/Singha....but can't recall the name. TotallyOz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Scottishguy, if you also like pool (American style), check out this thread about the place right below Blu Bowl at The Avenue. It also has some photos we took one day. http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/8208-vip-pool-at-the-avenue-in-pattaya/?hl=snooker&do=findComment&comment=59850 Also, this is a post I made on my first trip to The Avenue's Blu Bowling many years ago. http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/2402-major-bowling-in-pattaya/?hl=bowling Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Thanks Michael - I tend not to play pool because I'm crap at it!! Ten Pin I usually win - so I stick to that (what a competitive cow I am!) This "Blu Bowl" sounds like the place in an entertainment complex I was thinking of - I do remember there was a cinema within it. Quote

Guest Acirema Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I am so glad to see this thread. I was thinking of starting one but in a different vein. I will be relocating to Bangkok in May to teach English and relax. I have been on bowling leagues almost all my life and I am looking for the possibility of any leagues (gay or straight) in Bangkok? I think it will be a great way to meet people and have some weekly fun. Would be great to find a mixed (farang & Thai gay leauge) but maybe asking for too much. Maybe after I get settled we coud organize one. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! Quote
