Here's to many more Pattaya Players seasons in the sun.

I wonder if you are unique in Thailand, or if there are any other ex-pat groups of 'professional amateurs' performing in English. Chiang Mai maybe? Bangkok?

Hi Rogie. Thanks for the good wishes. To answer your question, Bangkok Community Theater (BCT) www.bct-th.org/ has been running in Bangkok for over 20 years. They are very well established there and helped us along our first year out when we were trying to establish ourselves.

In addition, during our second year as a group, I was approached by a gentlemen in Phuket who was interested in starting a community theater there. He named it The Andaman Players and they lasted about a year and a half until his untimely death -- when they unfortunately disbanded.

Soon thereafter, I was again contacted by a person in Chiang Mai who was in the process of setting up a community theater organization there. I gave him a few pointers and he started Gate Theater http://www.gate-thea...r.com/. Though I hear little from them, I believe they are still up and running.

Lastly, just a few weeks ago I was contacted by a gentlemen in Hua Hin wanting to start up a group. We set up a time to chat via Skype but then lost touch before the meeting could take place. I am not sure if he is still interested in pursuing the venture anymore or not.

It is a lot of hard work and long hours to set up a group like this - and can take its toll on the founders and Board Members. Sustaining is not easy, though thouroughly rewarding.

I hope that answers your question.
