Hero Raided by Police Today

This is a nasty new development. Hero is one of the most popular massage establishments, and often praised on this site. I hope it is more a case of payments not being made to the b-in-b rather than the start of another social order campaign! That will really put the cat amongst gay nightlife in this city.

 

Police said on Wednesday three undercover agents were sent to "Hero" spa on Sukhumvit road in Wattana district. The first agent paid 600 baht to buy a one-hour massage service while the other two waited in the lounge.

 

The first agent went into a room with a male masseur, who talked the agent into having sex with him. After they agreed a 1,000-baht deal, the agent signalled a team of officers to make the arrest immediately.

 

Spa owner Dechmaitree Pornsuksirikul, 51, and manager Jaturong Palakawongse na Ayudhya, 34, were arrested . . .

 

During the raid, police found a number of clients and masseurs in many rooms. They took a drug test and one of them tested positive.

Or just late with their payments. I was in Bangkok some years ago and Babylon was raided and reported in the Bangkok Post. At the risk of stating the obvious Babylon is still going. Hero is my favourite spot in Bangkok and am looking forward to my June trip. On quite reflection I think it will bounce back.

My goodness. I am really surprised at this. These massage houses are all over Thailand. Not sure why they chose this one. It is the best in BKK for sure IMHO. I'll be curious to see the outcome. If I were in LOS right now, I'd go over and support them by getting a 4 hand massage (but I'd be sure the door was locked).

Sorry, Michael. It is definitely closed. I went over this afternoon around 4:30pm. There is a notice on the gate but all it says is CLOSED.

The one 'encouraging' aspect of the raid is that there seemed to be very little publicity, apart from the short media release printed in most papers. Usually when such raids are part of a bigger campaign, there is a blaze of publicity. In this case, though, no photographs, no TV footage, the absence of high profile politicians leading the raid. Perhaps it really was just a case of someone forgetting to pay those who expect payment! In that case, it will probably reopen quite soon.

 

But I wonder what will happen to the masseurs. Will they move to other establishments, wait for Hero to reopen, or join the ranks of masseurs offering services on gayromeo?

There's a rumour going around that Hero will reopen on April 1st. Hope that is not an early April Fool's joke!

A friend from USA is staying on that soi in the new Starwoods property and he went there yesterday and it was still closed. I hope it opens soon!

I am in Bangkok and went by Hero's at 5pm today <Tuesday>. It was still closed. Retraced my steps and ended up at Albury Men's Club for a 2 hours scrub and aromatherapy rub. Had never been to Albury before and the service and very happy ending was good, but not GREAT. I am going to try B & N on Wednesday afternoon, as I like my boys a little more fem.

I've heard that Hero is now open and in business again. It also seems to have been a local tea money matter - although why such a major (and therefore presumably profitable) establishment as Hero should have found itself in that situation totally beats me!
