Guest fountainhall Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Yesterday afternoon went to see the new Thai gay-themed movie It Gets Better at Bangkok's Terminal 21. It Gets Better opened on Valentine’s Day. It’s directed by Tanwarin Sukkapisit who was responsible for the award-winning transvestite gay-theme movie Insects in the Backyard which was banned here in Thailand two times. It has three story threads, the main one dealing with a handsome (and he is very handsome ) young Thai who returns from Los Angeles to take over the Pattaya transvestite bar left to him by his father. The bar happens to be named “Fountain” – no, I did not write the screenplay!! Not being gay himself, he plans to close it down, much to the consternation of the staff. The other two stories involve a schoolboy who is sent to a temple for some years because he has been showing transsexual tendencies, and an older transsexual and her brief affair in the north. I won’t reveal any more of the plot, but you have to pay quite close attention as it unfolds – not helped yesterday when the English subtitles dropped out for ten minutes! Some of the scenery is quite lovely, and some scenes look beautiful – especially the one with the novice going through the forest. Despite the rather overdone transvestite scenes, this is a serious movie and well worth seeing. My Thai friend really enjoyed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u96W4iKb3WQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvlvCNwLFgg http://www.itgetsbettermovie.com/ Quote
