Eight people were found dead at the scene and two others were seriously injured. The collision involved a trailer truck that rear-ended an SUV, crushing it completely. A nearby oil tanker was also hit and sustained damage. Rescue teams used hydraulic cutters to retrieve the bodies, which included both children and adults. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV, carrying 10 people heading to visit relatives in Rayong, had pulled over in the far-left emergency lane to allow a passenger to change a baby’s diaper. It was then struck at high speed by the trailer truck driver, with drowsy driving suspected, according to the police.
