Readers who've been following Thai public education will not be surprised.

And judging by the Myanmar guys who work Dragon and Koi, I'd put Myanmar ahead of Thailand.

Their English is often better.

Thailand is a middle income country whereas Myanmar is low income. That their education is ranked so close together does not reflect well on Thailand.

South Korean students are under tremendous pressure, with frequent reports of suicide.  I think that some of those other countries in the top 10 might have found a better balance between achievement and dispair.

Japan, also I knew a lawyer whose son committed suicide  because he failed to get into Tokyo  University. Thus disihonouring his family. His father, and grandfather,  had gone to Tokyo University,  which is the most prestigious.

I think putting so much pressure on son is dishonoring family.

Rest in peace to the boy and I hope the parents and family were able to grieve and find closure. Societal pressure is so terrible.
