Cambodia is set to mark a significant milestone in its aviation sector with the launch of Techo International Airport (TIA) in July 2025.

Designed as both a major passenger gateway and a strategic cargo hub, the airport is poised to enhance the country’s connectivity and economic growth.

Located about 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh in Kandal and Takeo provinces, the 2,600-hectare facility — developed through a $1.5 billion investment — aims to position Cambodia as a key logistics and aviation hub in Southeast Asia.

I wonder what will be transportation options to get to the city. Airport planning to serve millions certainly should have some form of efficient public transport, otherwise cars and taxis  will choke traffic in no time . Train would be nice but bus with dedicated lines is a minimum i'd say.

Somehow I kind of doubt it will happen during  my time of going to Cambodia and I'm afraid , after taking 1 hr to fly from Bangkok, next 2 will be spent trying to get to Phnom Penh city . And I don't even start talking about the costs, Cambodia is still poor country and that money would be better spent on much less flashy but more needed improving capital's streets and pavements.

Are they serious thinking they can rival Vietnam with 100 million people and Thailand with 70 ? I'm afraid we will have white elephant, father of off white elephants and only God knows how I wish to be proven wrong.
