Members endlessdream Posted Friday at 06:32 AM Members Posted Friday at 06:32 AM I booked a ticket to Punta Cana on new year day 2026. After some research, I’m having some second thoughts. 1. It doesn’t seem to be a fun place for solo traveler 2. International hotels are absurdly expensive 3. Local transport seems to be underdeveloped Is there an easy way to get to Santo Domingo directly? Or a reasonable overnight option near the hotel? Many thanks ! Quote

I've never been....there's probably a reason for that 😉 I know people that vacation there..... from what I've been told, it's not in my tax bracket for the type of fun I typically look for, if available at all..... mostly a straight scene, no? 12is12 Posted Friday at 11:03 PM Posted Friday at 11:03 PM PC was mentioned here in a sexual context, only when a provider was brought there from SD by the client. M not sure what u mean by "is there a way to get to SD directly". Sure there is; an international flight..... Quote

I read in taxi it’s about 150 euros. Quote
12is12 Posted Saturday at 08:05 AM Posted Saturday at 08:05 AM Oh, sorry. I thought u meant going to SD instead of PC. Google says an uber would cost much less - $100. Quote

Honestly, the Bus is the better option than private car since the drive is the same, basically a straight highway to the capital. Just look for an Express route that has minimum stops. I think the issue is going to be the timing of your trip, when most Dominicans are still at home with family. There is an undercover gay scene in PC, but you need to know someone to be invited in to private events, parties, etc. But you have time if you start sniffing around now. Quote

As I’m arriving on the new year day, I’m not sure if it’s feasible to take a uber to the bus station then a bus to sd. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to spend a night first in or near pc. Some international hotels I checked require a minimus stay of 3 or 5 nights, some are utterly expensive. Any suggestions on what I can do upon arrival? Thx Quote

Thx New year arrival day can be a little bit complicated, as in the most of the countries around the world, most of companies and public services are not working as usual or just not working. If you are planning to spend first night in PC a good choice with no minimum stay is Four Points Sheraton Hotel, close to the airport and free shuttle included. But honestly, in my opinion, if your flight is not arriving late at night go directly to Santo Domingo once landed in Punta Cana. You will save money and time. You can look for a prívate transfer in internet or contact Manny who is specialised in this issues and can arrange everything for you. Quote

I have been travelling for business and holidays to República Dominicana, Panamá and Cuba during the last five years very often. At the end, in DR Manny was the most honest person I found there in all senses. For sure there are other options beside him, but take care of your pocket and risks. Quote
