Olddaddy Posted Thursday at 10:24 PM Posted Thursday at 10:24 PM Well I must say first day arriving Pattaya seems very busy 👥👥 The Zing Resort 🏨at the Jomtien complex is booked out all weekend no idea why 😮busy busy busy Usually when I come in June July no one around, this time I have to walk on the road as the footpaths are crowded even in Jomtien My first night arriving early hours I fell asleep in the room ,not like me ,but the soft bed was amazing and I thought just a one hour nap and then 6 hours later I wake up 🤣feel much better though Well one would think being my first night I would head out to the bars immediately and that was my intention,I walked past the M Bar ,mmmmmm amazing boys 😘😍(this bar is next door to Zing hotel) I thought I will just go to get a light snack and come back But my big greedy belly🫃spoke and was so hungry and I headed to Tinnies the Aussie 🇦🇺🦘pie 🥧 shop ,where there I ate 3 pies 🥧🥧🥧and 2 beers 🍻 🍻 and 2 🧀 cheese cakes 🍰🍰 By the time I was finished I was so full all I wanted to do was go back to the room and sleep ,I could hardly walk 🚶♂️ Serves me right for being a Glutton 🐷🐷🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐷🐷 , I'm getting old now after a 16 hour business class ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ hate to see what I would of been like if it was economy flight ,might have had to get a stretcher to take me off😂 But yes not sure why it's so busy ,but I'm happy 😊 🎵🎵Happy little Vegemite as happy as can be 🎶🎶 splinter1949, jamiebee and vinapu 3 Quote

vaughn Posted Friday at 12:18 AM Posted Friday at 12:18 AM The busier than usual hotels might have something to do with Pattaya Music Festival, I think it starts this weekend and runs for 3 weekends. Olddaddy 1 Quote
Travellerdave Posted Friday at 03:36 AM Posted Friday at 03:36 AM Your description of busy Pattaya and Jomtien was what I found during my 3 weeks the end of January / early February. Then the explanation was the Chinese New Year with hotels full of families celebrating their principle festival. I had assumed that I could find a room in either of the two most popular Complex gay orientated hotels Zing or Agate . That assumption proved wrong and I had to take one or the 500 rooms for a week in the huge Jomtien Resort, which despite whilst being excellent with impressive facilities is not the sort of lodging I gravitate to, before I was able to move to the Agate. It would seem that in high season there is always some sort of festival in progress crowding out us gay visitors from our 9 months a year favourite Oasis’. I suppose the obvious answer is to book well ahead . bkkmfj2648 1 Quote
Olddaddy Posted Friday at 09:47 AM Author Posted Friday at 09:47 AM Yes the Zing Resort is booked out I'm may have to go to the Jomtien resort as well tommrrw night 😂 Bangkok seems to be ok though with plenty of rooms available must be just Pattaya with the festivals Quote

Go the day before and book a good seat for tomorrow, 2.) Go the same day of the day that you want to see a show in the late afternoon --> after 4pm --> and do your booking then. Option 2 has worked the best for me because: 1.) The bar is empty, 2.) The manager can let you pick your table from those that are not already pre-reserved. I personally love the tables that are directly in front of the stage, because you will become actively involved with the performers (as they tend to interact more with those sitting in the first row) during the show - thus rendering your experience to be more exciting. If you go at the last minute then you might not even get a seat, or if you do, the seat may not give you an optimal view of the show. Also note that if you don't have 100 baht bank notes the bars can change your 1.000 baht bank note for smaller denominated 100 baht notes which are perfect if you want to get up close and personal with the performers. They love it!! Olddaddy, jamiebee, vinapu and 1 other 4 Quote

Hmm I have heard this before from you.... And usually you try to resolve this "boredom" by transferring yourself to Bangkok.... Then you can dance the night away at DJ Station in BKK. Before you headoff to BKK did you try dancing at The Sun Bar? -> inside behind the smoked glass.... Olddaddy, jamiebee and floridarob 2 1 Quote

Olddaddy Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Maybe it's my perception but I don't find the gay expats to be overly friendly they seem to be in their own "click " , not as friendly as 20 years ago gay expats who couldn't wait to give you advice .different gay generation now I guess Another thing I noticed was the "scrufiness" of gay farangs now compared to 20 years ago when most used to dress 👗 🥻 up in collared shirts and ironed trousers , nowadays it's unkempt hair, singlets dirty armpits , mostly all of them I watched one old farang coughing up his lungs spitting on the ground in front of him whilst drinking at the bar The only one that was dressed nicely was an expat I recognised from 25 years ago skinny old guy with glasses The Bangkok bars are much different vibe , friendly customers from all around the world , the farangs are dressed nicely etc ,even the boys are different Quote
