There was smoking throughout the bar and some of the boys were sitting in the bar smoking during the rotation.

Maybe they have changed the rules now, but confining smokers to the back of the bar is a waste of time. The bar still stinks.

If you are a smoker, you won't notice it.

They have seating outside the bar so the bar should send smokers there.

I believe this is particularly true with otherwise straight guys. They’re usually more likely to feel free to act on impulse once door is closed with customer. There are, of course, exceptions but I like to take one at a time because of satisfactory success rate.

I view it this way. If they choose to share their experience with coworkers, i benefit because they’re now aware what I’m looking for. If they don’t then it’s just between us and that’s fine, too.

Sooo... Might this be due to a different tone? If you're not coming from an environment with a tonal language, this will trip you up.

That’s likely the case. There’s definitely a difference that seems subtle to me but that’s because i’m a mere monoglot  and the only other one i have any glancing knowledge of is also not tonal.(German)

He did scan my code and it didn't work.  The same when I scanned his QR code.  I cannot add anyone by phone number because I have USA based number it says. It says something like" Line does not have the ability to verify USA based phone numbers".  I've been getting this error for weeks as I've been adding the various shops and accounts for Bangkok and Japan.  It's frustrating

If it's possible to join Line with an American number they would know.

Okay, this is round two of typing this and I will not accidentally delete this again...

I went to FreshBoys with 7k Baht in my pocket in order to keep my options open.  (Btw if you use credit card at FB they charge a 10%fee)  I was seated in the usual spot that I suspect is meant for solo guys. what about buying cheap SIM card ? than you will have Thai number  and all issues will be straightened up. 

Ancient Romans  used to say " when in Rome buy Roman SIM card" , it should work in Thailand this age too
