Prior to our visit to see the Candy Bar cabaret show, I treated Jason and his sexy number 17 to dinner at the NEW Buenos Mexican restaurant, which is now in the formerly Dorothy's Showbar - directly across from the famous M2M cabaret showbar in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown). Our dishes were very yummy - I ate #42 - the Ground Beef Buenos Bowl and both Jason and number 17 ate 2 orders of #35 - Chicken fajitas. Back in December when the to-be Candy Bar was still under construction - I walked into the construction site because I saw a Thai person who was not in construction clothes (I assumed that he would be a more important person and most likely be able to speak English) - and I asked him what was supposed to be this new place - as the new name was not yet revealed. He made me understand, back then, that the new to-be cabaret bar would be direct competition to BOTH M2M and The Venue cabaret establishments. He also would not reveal the new name to me. Anyway, based on what you revealed today - I am happy to see that BOTH M2M and also Candy Bar are under the same management - as this implies that they would not allow one to kill the other -- as I truly enjoy them both. As a follow up - we went to the M2M 10:30pm cabaret show last night, Friday 21 March 2025. This is our first return to M2M AFTER the new Candy Bar has been opened. We wanted to see: With the transfer of a couple of key stars from M2M over to the Candy Bar if it would be noticeable?, What is the crowd size - in light of there now being 3 different cabaret show bars in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown)? What we noticed is that the remaining M2M performers had to pick up the slack - meaning that they had to perform more numbers during the 90 minute show. What is the impact? Less variety of performers - BUT - the existing team did an excellent job last night and I/we could not notice any degradation in the show performance. The crowd size was at around 75% to 80% full. So, not a substantial loss of customers due to the arrival of the Candy Bar competition. Prior to the Candy Bar opening, there were many nights where M2M was only 80% full. Perhaps the noticeable difference is that we were able to reserve 5 seats when we stopped by M2M at 8pm on the same day of the performance. In the past, this was not always possible. But, we are now in the low season - so I am not sure if it was easy for us to obtain 5 seats because of the competition of the Candy Bar and/or because it is now low season?? The main noticeable differences between the 2 venues are: both shows start at 10:30pm - but the Candy Bar cabaret show has I believe a 10 to 15 minute intermission, whereas, M2M does not - so you get uninterrupted 90 minutes of entertainment, the Candy Bar space is bigger and newer, and the M2M space is smaller, but more intimate with the performers, the Candy Bar program varies depending on the day of the week with shows ONLY on Wednesdays (Fun and Games Night), Thursdays (Perfect Pop), Fridays (Burlesque), Saturdays (Classic Camp), and Sundays (Icons, Anthems, & Divas). They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. M2M offers a show 7 nights each week - where they tend to be a repeat of the previous days show - BUT - they often announce special themed nights in advance via their social media outlets (FB, Instagram, GaySupertown Twitter feed, etcetra). At this juncture, I still cannot say who is number one. Previous to the arrival of the new Candy Bar, M2M has always been my favorite (when it was compared to The Venue cabaret venue - which was the only alternative in the complex). But, I am starting to like the new Candy Bar more and more. Perhaps, there does not need to be a Number ONE - and that both can be Number ONE. Anyone here have an opinion ? The great Freddie Mercury impersonator performed in last night's M2M performance, and he is one of my favorites, and one of my Thai boyfriend's BEST friends, who was with us last night and it was his first time to visit the M2M, he was mesmerized by Freddie - and it was great to watch their interaction.
