I was responding to Olddaddy's exact statement: "Russians generally mind their own business." This applies to all Russian people, despite the context of his comment.

We know that @Olddaddy is not very observant or careful about most things. He's often not careful about what and how he writes, so I wasn't sure which Russians he was talking about.

He should have specifically written "The Russian tourists in Phuket generally mind their own business." The Russians in Bali (and, I'm sure, many other destinations) certainly don't "generally mind their own business." And because we know all too well how a majority of Russian citizens feel about Putin's war, I made the analogy.

Being specific is important -- especially for those men like @Olddaddy, who have prematurely entered the land of the hazy and semi-conscious . 🥰

i can't say I have many experiences of Russians in recent years other than great visits to Moscow and St. Petersburg a dozen or so years ago. But I recall when Russians started coming to Thailand en masse probably around 15 years ago. Then there were few if any flights from Russia directly to Phuket. So the passengers had to change at BKK. I lost count of the number of times I would be in a queue when a large number of Russians would suddenly appear - I assume from a nearby security check - and immediately barge into the queue near the front. This upset a lot of other passengers.

It's only going to get worse with the new Trump/Putin friendship feast! They will feel that they can do whatever they like.

Indeed there was - and they would certainly know a thing or two about "invading and occupying other nations and being proud about it." So much so, the oppressed and frustrated natives of Pai are now referring to their town as "Pai-les-tine".

I think it's wonderful that  many Israeli backpackers along with Irish and English are travelling to that part of Thailand
