reader Posted Friday at 02:38 AM Posted Friday at 02:38 AM From The Thaiger Hotel room rates in Thailand increased by an average of 15% from 2023, as reported by SiteMinder, an e-commerce platform assisting hotels with direct and third-party bookings. This growth distinguishes Thailand as the only country with double-digit expansion. The Hotel Booking Trends report from SiteMinder, which analysed over 125 million reservations, indicates that the average daily rate (ADR) in Thailand rose to 5,377 baht from 4,648 baht in 2023. Rates peaked in December at 6,460 baht per room, an 11% increase from the previous year’s same period. SiteMinder attributed this growth to Thailand’s response to increased international travel demand. Thai hotels led Asia in foreign arrivals, with international guests constituting 77% of check-ins, surpassing the global average of 48%. Only Austria had a higher percentage of foreign check-ins. Additional insights from the report revealed that travellers booking Thai accommodations planned their stays further ahead, with an average lead time of 27 days, the longest in Asia and close to the 29-day booking window seen in 2019. The top 12 hotel booking sources for Thai properties in 2024, by total gross revenue via SiteMinder, were Booking.com, Agoda, direct bookings on hotel websites, Expedia Group, Trip.com, Hotelbeds, Tiket.com, Goibibo & MakeMyTrip, Traveloka, WebBeds, Klook, and TBOHolidays. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thailand-hotel-room-rates-soar-by-15-amid-travel-demand-surge jamiebee, TMax and vinapu 2 1 Quote

colmx Posted Friday at 01:48 PM Posted Friday at 01:48 PM Not sure about the rest of you, but i have noticed that the pricing for accommodation in Bkk/Silom and Phuket/Patong has definitely gone up by significantly more than 15% since 2023? daydreamer 1 Quote

Still I don't blame them as last week they were full to a point that even if I had paid up reservation they transferred me to a condo unit across the soi at o cost for me. reader 1 Quote

jason1975 Posted Sunday at 02:23 AM Posted Sunday at 02:23 AM I have been staying at Le Meridien in recent years. It started because of attractive promotion rates just after Covid - about 2000 baht per night. Then I joined the Marriot Bonvoy membership programme where I get perks such as free breakfast, access to evening lounge, room upgrade and late check-out if I stay at Le Meridien or any other hotels under the Marriot brand worldwide for at least 50 nights a year. But the rates at Le Meridien kept going up every year. Now it averages 5000 baht per night. While the hotel is nice, I have no choice but to stay at other much cheaper hotels or Airbnb apartments. Money saved can go towards more tips to my favourite guys. Sorry @Keithambrose no chance to meet you at breakfast or evening lounge at Le Meridien! We can still meet at Foodland Patpong though! Quote

jason1975 Posted Sunday at 05:57 AM Posted Sunday at 05:57 AM There are alternative options to the hotels. Many apartments and condos are listed on Agoda. I managed to book a unit with pool and kitchen for next month March. Quote

Members Lucky Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM Members Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM I can understand coming back soon! I have been home for 18 days and even through some horrible jetlag I miss the place. I stayed at 4 different hotels in Bangkok and loved three of them. But the prices were pretty high compared to the old days. ichigo, floridarob and vinapu 3 Quote

Le Meridien is quite popular with gays, has comfortable rooms, a great breakfast, and a location central to gay activity. The Athenee is luxurious, with staff males wearing nicely styled tux and tails, has comfortable rooms with a great breakfast. The location is near the BTS to the shopping malls. The Sheraton gave me a high floor room with a view of the river. At night all of the boats were lit up and it was quite beautiful. From the Lounge, we had a 460 degree view and it was even better. The W disappointed although I liked it last year. It's right next to a BTS station, but that wasn't enough to keep me there. We left for the Le Meridien again. khaolakguy and vinapu 2 Quote
vaughn Posted yesterday at 10:10 PM Posted yesterday at 10:10 PM The most redeeming part of the W is their cocktail lounge, but i agree, I was disappointed with my last stay too. Rooms are too small for the price and while still close to the BTS it's not the most convenient. It is gay friendly though, the W brand hotels are very focused on younger crowd of traveller. Quote

It used to have an open feel to it so you could better see people who were coming and going, but now they have segregated it quite a bit from the rest of the lobby with big walls. vaughn 1 Quote

People in pajamas and slippers down in the lobby and all. Very noticeable change of demographic. Breakfast was very unpleasant with all the children running wild and touching everything with their hands. Definitely not the same LGBT demographic of traveler that it used to cater to in Bangkok. I probably wouldn’t return again and I’ve stayed there many times. vaughn 1 Quote

None are conveniently located for gay nightlife, but wonderful properties. You will probably want to spend a lot of time on property at the pool anyways since you will be paying so much for it. Are you going to be inviting over any dates? Quote
