kokopelli3 Posted Monday at 05:54 AM Posted Monday at 05:54 AM Once again the pickpockets struck on a Baht Bus from Pattaya to Jomtien! A farang friend got on a crowded bus with a wallet full of money and multiple credit/debit cards and got off with no wallet. Again, don't carry more money than you intend to spend and never carry credit/debit cards, drivers license, etc. If you must carry credit cards take a motorcy taxi or Bolt car or carry a secure shoulder bag with it in front on you, not on your side. And be especially careful if you have been drinking! Be wary of anyone(s) engaging you in coversation or pushing, prodding you or offering you a seat. Otherwise, enjoy your ride.🤑 floridarob and bkkmfj2648 2 Quote

macaroni21 Posted Wednesday at 02:14 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:14 AM Actually, the Gulf of Mexico itself has sort-of disappeared. In a genuflection to Trump and MAGA, Google Maps (US version) has renamed the Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America. Let's just say that I'm the sort who continues to refer to the Persian Gulf, not the Arabian Gulf however much the Arab sheikhs might prefer it. Quote

Travellerdave Posted Wednesday at 07:26 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:26 AM What annoys me about baht buses when boarding them at South Pattaya Road for the trip to Jomtien is the insistence that they are loaded beyond safe capacity. Every seat must be taken and then the rear platform needs to have at least three persons standing before the driver sets off. This applies even at quiet times such as early morning (ie 8 am in Pats). I’ve seen older women clinging on at the rear really scared at the prospect of falling off, which I know has happened in the past causing serious injury. During my recent stay in the Jomtien Complex I’m glad to say that I only visited BT twice and Sunee once which minimised the experience I describe. Jomtien now seems to provide all the essentials for gay tourists like myself: good hotels, night time entertainment, restaurants , Dongtan Beach and most importantly boys. Very true the Jomtien complex has everything! Cheaper and all types accommodation, bars boys ! I usually stay at the Zing just close by Although I have to use the Grindr app most time to get the "boys" I desire ,as The JC doesn't have the bigger guys 😜💪 Quote
Travellerdave Posted Wednesday at 08:54 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:54 AM Yes Olddaddy I’ve stayed at Zing quite a few times, but my last minute trip it did not have availability for the period of my trip. Instead I booked the Agate for nearly a fortnight plus several days at the Jomtien Palm Beach. The latter is a huge resort hotel the type of which I wouldn’t normally choose, but I arrived late at night without reservation and it was my only immediate option. I checked at reception about joiners and was told that they preferred to have copies of ladies id’s, to which I replied that in my case it would be boys. The answer was “boys ok” which indeed turned out the be the case - the boys I had there were definitely ok ! vinapu, Ruthrieston, 10tazione and 1 other 1 3 Quote

I am not the type straying around til 4 in the morning, so that was very annoying. Yes, earplugs are standard in my travel essentials... but anyway. I am a bit done with Thailand at the moment, but that usually cures till next winter. Quote

If she was that uncomfortable she could wait for next baht bus and would have choice of prime seats. I fully agree that those standing places on platform are not fitting ' safe capacity ' description and when taking bus in that direction I use an advice I just dispensed Quote

Until 1997, it was named Royal Jomtien Resort Hotel. In 1997, the hotel had a horrific fire, in which 90 people died. After the hotel was renovated, it was renamed Jomtien Palm Beach. The hotel on the hill between Pattaya and Jomtien you may be thinking of is called Sugar Hut. Olddaddy and vinapu 2 Quote
Travellerdave Posted yesterday at 08:09 AM Posted yesterday at 08:09 AM Olddaddy The location of the Jomtien Palm Beach Resort given by daydreamer is correct. Here’s a picture of the main entrance which you reach after a short walk down the access road from Beach Road. However I didn’t use it after my first day as I found a more convenient entrance near the rear of hotel (designated Jomtien Wing) close to the elevators for my 9th floor room. There was what looked like an access check station desk but during my stay it was never manned. In fact I never presented my joiners from the Complex (3 boys over 4 nights - one twice) to the reception desk. Here In the early evening there was a piano player which was a first for me after 22 years visiting Pattaya. During my stay I didn’t notice any obvious bar boys being brought in, which was definitely not the case at the Agate (gay friendly) where I transferred to. I did enjoy the huge swimming pool on two mornings before it became crowded with Chinese families there for New Year holiday, but not the bowling alley, gym or snooker tables. daydreamer and Olddaddy 1 1 Quote
