TotallyOz Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I have a friend in USA that went to his dentist and has to get some dental work. They quoted him 18,000 US for the work. He wrote to ask me about Periodontists in Bangkok. I don't know of any. Any suggestions? Places to check? He can then contact them to get quotes. Thanks. Michael Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We've had similar threads in recent years with many posters recommending the big hospital dental departments - like Bumrungrad and BNH. When I first arrived here in Bangkok, I was having a lot of dental trouble and, at the recommendation of an old Thai friend, I went to a dental clinic in Sathorn Soi 1. I ended up having a lot of work done to most of my teeth. That was completed 8 or so years ago and whilst I reckon it was maybe 8% - 10% more expensive, he did a fantastic job and I have never had so much as a filling since. I'll send you a PM with the clinic's contact. Quote
Guest dingoposer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Hi Michael drboon@aboutsmile.com His name is Dr. Boon, he speaks fluent English. They are super honest and professional. This is email address of my Thai dentist, I have about 20 friends who now go over to him for treatment. I had on my last visit, root canal treatment and crown, it cost about $600 all up.I have had 7 veneers which are perfect. Done by Dr Boon, about 7 years ago and they are still there and have made a complete transformation of my dental appearance, cost per veneer $180 each. In Australia this can cost up to $1500 each. .The clinic does all facets of dental work and are super clean and the dentists are equal to any here in Australia. They have specialists covering all kinds of dental work. Treatment costs usually pays for a trip to Thailand. For instance a clean and check up costs about $40 He is located two stops from Siam sky train station, Paya Thai I think it is spelt, very convenient. Lets know how you get on Pat Quote
Guest kjun12 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I strongly advise a visit to Thonglor Dental Clinic. They do excellent work. Quote
Guest jomtiened Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Hi Michael, Your friend obviously needs extensive periodontal work if the charges would be $18000. In Thailand, most general dentists will do periodontal work, although they have minimal training and experience for such procedures. I have very bad gums and have been using Periodontists in Thailand for 10 years. By far, the best Periodontist I have found is: Dr. Kaesarin Rojanasomsith She is US trained(degree from University of Connecticutt) and an excellent doctor. She is available at BNH Hospital on Thrursdays and Saturdays. Not cheap---but well worth it. Quote
TotallyOz Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 Thank you all for the recommendations and comments. Please keep them coming as my friend is weighing all his options. Quote
Guest dale1 Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 If your friend would consider Pattaya ... might be better than BKK if the work is to be done over a period of time with multiple visits ... I suggest he correspond by email with Dr. Tapasit Prapawiwat ... he is the owner of STUDIO SMILE Dental Clinic located at the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya ... open now for about one year ... previously he was on the dental staff of Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for many years ... a Thai who has spent many years in school and living in the USA (New Jersey) ... speaks perfect English, understands foreigners and is truly a quality professional dentist ... his STUDIO SMILE has a number of other members of staff each of whom have their own specialties ... certainly a good place to start with specific, dental-related questions ... the email address is ... www.studiosmilethailand.com ... phone 038-362-095 Quote
