I see it as, what all multinationals did....raise it until you find the line people won't cross....then run promos to get them back.

If you know Jr or Rodolfo, neither are keeping spreadsheets and doing analysis on sales trends,  expenses and amortization of capital expenses and per guest cost vs net profit  🤓

I know they do not do it and I know you cannot compare the resources and options a multinational has to the local small business reality. And yet, I think you are thinking from your wallet and with no idea on how to run a (small) business when inflation in a month is higher than the annual inflation in most countries, developed or not.

But anyway, let's agree on disagreeing here.

One more thing, to the friends who give advice to Brazilians on how to run their business. I may be wrong, but I bet you have no idea on how to run a business when inflation is running crazy. The causes of inflation are in the policy makers decisions, not in the business owners' behavior, they just have to adapt to survive.

are you saying Brazil went through 100% inflation in 2024?

Google search tells me Brazil inflation is 5% in 2024

Nobody will be against a healthy price adjustment around 15% each year to match with inflation

Good for you that you do not have to worry about your wallet

For those who wants their money worth, hiring from garoto com local might be more economical. Even if they charge 400/hr (one of my regular charges 200/hr standard for everyone). Its an hour with gozar minus the entrance, drink and suite fees.

I believed I saw a poster last week at 117 that the suite was 40 (not sure if its an old poster)

there is also a love motel right across 117 which I visited once in 2024.

It is 160R for 4 hours, facility is better than 117.

it starts making more sense to use motel with your regular

I live in Sao Paulo.  For 3 years.  200-250 with 300-400 with milk is common.  NOT for Brazilians.  They love to barter-I mean they enjoy bartering with each other (Clients and customers) so move those figures down by 30-50% if you are a native Portuguese speaker.  Otherwise, like a friend who now lives in NY but is here frequently and also born in Brazil said to me, quite bluntly (referring to how. much I paid to have a suit altered) "Are you kidding me?  Wow, you got screwed (not in the way I like either).  Then again, you'll always pay more, period."  HOWEVER, there's gringo surcharge and there outright rediculous.   I just don't think $100 US is a good price, it's an awful price especially with the real being over 6:1 R/$.  150-200 was common just post-pandemic but things have increased a bit.  But the Brazilians HATE us going to Lagoa and inflating the prices.

I wish you informed us about this before December when many travelled to Brazil. In my recent experience at 117 many asked for much more, even the low end guys. But usually the price never reflects the quality of the gps, mostly it reflects their personality...I think this sort of insane tourist price strategy by gps can really diminish the attractiveness of the saunas...At thermas in Barcelona it has been fixed at 50 euros ever since, even through the recent inflation and insane rental prices in the city. Unless 117 has a better strategy soon I am not sure if it will keep attracting both gps and clients...the market exists only if both the demand and supply meet but now 117 is moving in a wrong direction: lost the top quality gps and increased the prices etc. I am curious how the situation develops in the future. Many businesses go away when they do not keep up with the changes and I hope 117 can evolve in order to survive and keep providing us with beautiful memories

Well, since I am a local and get paid in reals, they "assume" I am rich.  EVen a good friend whose a dentist said to me "all Brazilians think anyone from N America/Canada/Europe/UK are rich, which you may or may not know if patently wrong.  I won't even go on holidays because there are so many gringos paying USA prices I don't have a chance.

I remember back in the 70's, New Yorkers were writing editorials complaining about the Japanese throwing their money around and getting all the attention from sales staff.  They were buying up all those jeans and camera equipment.  People were PISSED!

SolaceSoul &  Latbear4blk,

I concur. The price increase shouldn't cost must for non-Brazilians/foreign tourists especially visitors from western countries. Also, remember BRL value went down,

it's 1 USD=6.07 BRL. The mild inflation should be insignificant to the westerners.

The price we pay for the escorts in western countries is much more higher than what we pay in Brazil, atleast  7 - 10 times more

and, yet I see these bitches complaining about the little price hike.

Tell that to a local, and the GP's who's entrance doubled.....tourists are the minority.

Also, I lived in Brasil when the Real got strong....prices didn't drop to reflect that and that's when the shoe was on the other foot and lot's of once a year travelers, didn't go back....

If I were part of the 117 management team (definitely NOT my dream job!), I would:

— Make the client entrance fees two-tier (one price for those with Brazilian IDs and another less expensive one for those without). Locals are the regular clients, and the less they have to pay to enter the club, the more they can spend on suites and at the bar.

— Drop the garoto entrance fee to something more affordable (that wouldn’t cause the GPs to raise their programa prices on clients to cocer the additional entrance fees).

— Offer GPs a work incentive: the top 3 GPs who book clients who spend the most / book the most time in suites will each get their entrance fees comped. This would encourage GPs to get clients to spend more in-house vs. just getting WhatsApp numbers and going offsite. The meat of the sauna’s money comes from clients spending money inside the club (in suites or at the bar) — not from GPs paying an entrance fee.

Acyr, that used to be part owner of 3 saunas, used to not charge GP's an entrance if they didn't have a client that day so at least they only lost their time not end the day in the red....I always liked that approach.

This should’ve read “one price for those with Brazilian IDs and another more expensive one for those without).”

Stronly agree, could they at least drop the GP fee? I thought the guys got in for less. I feel so bad. :( They're such nice guys and deserve the world. I have a trip planned for February, but I'm not sure yet. i have the booking, but I may pay a bit extra for the flight, but I want to wait to see how everything is going after January.- I know that a couple of weeks wont make that much of a difference, but I still want to think about it.

I get the idea behind charging the GP a few reais to work at the club. One: they are independent contractors by Brazilian law (although adult sex work is legal here, third-party procuring or pimping is outlawed), and as such, the entrance fee serves to separate the sauna business from the independent worker. Also, with the high risk of having any old ne’er-do-well walking in the club, you do need some kind of barrier to entry. Everyone should have some skin in the game. However, that entry fee for workers should be minimal. These kinds of clubs will fail without new youngbloods — and those kinds of guys in Brazil can’t afford much.

That was not my experience in my recent trip. I could write a trip report but I am not sure if it would be helpful or whether I wanna spend some time writing something and then called as a bitch 😂
