Songkran in Bangkok

Songkran in Bangkok in 2025 is 13 to 15 April. A question. Is it completely over then? If for example I arrive on 17 April is it all over? Opinions among people I know differ as whether it’s a desirable time to be in Thailand but I think it’s something I would prefer to avoid.

I agree entirely. I live in Pattaya, where the Songkran madness lasts a week! I hide in my condo from 13th to 16th and then flee to Bangkok which is like a ghost town while everyone is recovering from the three days of madness, and I return on 20th.

Hi, I'm planning a trip from 14 to 23 April. I'm not fond of Songkran but i think i can survive it in BKK by hiding in the malls...but if am in pattaya from 20 to 23, will the craziness be over there?

This is the only free time I have so I can't choose another travel period 😮‍💨

18 April and 19 April will be the WORST days for Pattaya's Songkran festival this year 2025.  If you are coming to Pattaya on 20 April then it should be ok - but the city may look a little bit worn down - as the 20th is the day after the peak mayhem day of 19 April.

Woah good thing I have arranged my trip a week after Songkran and reaching after 25th April. Avoiding the crazy crowds and hopefully most if not all boys/business are already be back work after spending their holidays back home.
