Rose Hotel, Bangkok?

Recommended Posts

I've been to Bangkok loads of times but never stayed in the Rose Hotel, off Surawong. Is it ok? Is it happy with joiners? I'm trying to be a bit more economical, having spent too much in the past.

This was discussed  at length recently.

it will fill all your specifications, no problem with joiners, not fancy but has all you need and no problem with joiners at all

Joiners no problem. Rooms large and comfortable, but dated.

The biggest pluses are  cost, location, and the pool.

I'll be back there next week!

I’m at the Rose Residence right now and it is nice, a little jaded luxury in parts but the pool is indeed lovely. Note my bf is not happy with the small gym, I’m am not a gym bunny so can’t comment.

The Rose Hotel is next door and looks quite shabby and as it had a lot of windows open I assume no aircon…

Thank you everyone. I think I'll give the Rose a try next time. 56Surawong is ok though lower rooms can be noisy at night (traffic and taking the market down) and I had to move to a room in the centre of the building to get wi fi that worked.

Ruen Urai but recently I had impression it was closed, perhaps we need to check and report back .

It was time that going there without reservation was lost case as they were always booked up

They were open in early November,  as I went there with Peter RS. He had a reservation,  but they denied it, and said they were full! Makes your point. We ended up at Mango Tree.

Same same but different. It does get quite busy with office workers around lunch time though.

I have pleasure of being on their opening day in July 2023. Yes , it's Park Silom.

Foodland there is busier than one in Patpong but I like Patpong one, menu and prices the same but better people watching venue , specially after bars start closing

Yes, I since noticed the windows in the front of the building have visible aircon units and the windows were shut. It was the rooms at the back that you can see from the Rose Residence pool that had the windows open. Maybe those aren’t actually the hotel or they have cheaper non-aircon rooms as well?

That said if the Residence is in your budget I’d highly recommend there, very comfortable and quiet given how close to all the action it is.

The price of the rose residence seems to have gone up a huge amount since I was there. It was about $60 a night but now seems to be $120. They were having construction work nearby before so maybe was why it was so cheap last summer. I would highly recommend it.

They are refurbishing the hotel on Surawong,  close to the Meridien.  The work is close to the Rose Residence.
