Charlie Woods' hole-in-one

It’s a free cuntry but let's be real. One person apparently predominantly enters 'beer bar' topics arbitrarily and somewhat geographically centric, approaching the level of board tradition, and there will inevitably be a 'red stripe' slashed through the practice by some that find the themes to be irrelevant. So who’s to stop somebody perpetually wielding on any one hill?

But if a dozen more were to replicate the pattern, say, Brazilian Report articles and several more thematically centric posts but across a broad range of entry types to infinity the subforum would collapse under overwhelming mixology.

What is not lost on me is that one person dictates content through which I must selectively wade and others dictate that such selectivity is everybody's prerogative. Two reaction categories can co-exist and no one preference can prevail. Not this hill.

Translation  please.

What @Riobard is suggesting is that members post overwhelming, inane messages in hopes of crashing the site and causing moderator to remove Beer Bar from forum. The above is a sample of his method.

I’m not suggesting that anybody should do anything. I’m merely agreeing that a monopolizer already endlessly posts random topics as if tossing a bunch of newspapers down the stairs and picking the headlines that showed most prominently on the landing, the result of the method is sedating, and there’s no point in attempting to undig that one insistent set of 👠 👠. One can consider giving a wide berth to the territorial girl that has nowhere else to squat. Let her stake the pioneering claim to her own Facebook page here since it’s mostly meta about the MO of posting anyway.

Google's AI definition of "confusingly elaborate writing style" is:

"A confusingly elaborate writing style often uses excessively complex sentence structures, convoluted vocabulary, unnecessary jargon, and lengthy descriptions, making it difficult for the reader to follow the main point due to the overwhelming amount of detail and unnecessary complexity; examples can be found in certain academic texts, overly ornate literary works, or when a writer attempts to sound overly intellectual by using obscure language and convoluted phrasing."

@Reader is boring.

The news he brings to the forum is selected biasedly: if he comes across a negative news item about Russians or Chinese, he will definitely bring it, because the news coincides with his opinion about Russians and Chinese. Quite a lot of the news he brings to the forum is copied from pathetic low-budget tabloid sheets and is not trustworthy. I have caught the Reader bringing here "news" from two years ago for the sake of a headline.

BUT! This forum has an owner, administrators and moderators. And they are the ones who should determine the policy of desirable and undesirable content.

The situation when one user tries to dictate what should or should not be published here is not normal. If a user believes that some content violates the forum rules, he should not play the part of a freelance policeman, but should use the forum function "Report" - the three dots in the upper right corner. Do you think the content is "wrong"? - press the "Report" button.

When people try to tell me what I should do or not do, I always have 2 replies:

  • Who are you to lecture me?
  • Don't tell me what to do and I won't tell you where to go

P.S. pic just for fun :)

I have to agree with Moses here. I must confess that I rarely read Reader's posts, but I was curious because this string had well over 100 views (most of his don't). At least the discussion is interesting, although the original post wasn't, at least not to me. I do wish that his posts would be of topics which could be of greater interest to more people. However, I never saw it as my role, or anyone else's, to tell him what he should or shouldn't post. Frankly, although I wish he would post more interesting stuff, I don't see a lot of other posters filling the void.

Instead of posting news and/or articles of their interest, they prefer to "fill the void" by complaining about what @reader posts.

As a retiree that lives here full time, I enjoy what Reader posts because often what Reader posts may impact my daily retiree life.

I understand that for most of our forum readership (who do not live in Thailand) these articles could be of little value or interest.

So, the bigger question is, should this forum only cater to the portion of the membership that does not live in Thailand?

for boring stuff you surprisingly often go into discussion with hi over his posts.

most of stuff on this whole forum  forum is boring i.e   interesting only to a limited number  of users.

But as we all know, it's very easy to avoid stuff we don't want to read about

Exactly. Why all of the sudden we have complains about work of one of most prolific posters here we can count on contribution of every day ?

We should treat this board like bookstore, go to the section which interests you and skip those which don't . If you see authors you don't read, just leave their book on the shelf.

Reader, don't worry and keep posting. Remember we are just past Christmas season when some people are frustrated by loneliness and others are still suffering indigestion from overeating , overdrinking and overspending, hence some incoherent comments.

but I always discuss the facts he publishes, and don't write "why did you bring something that no one needs"

by the way, without me, quite a large part of his posts would look like this:

I was counting views but I'm still flattered.

views means nothing, replies show audience engagement:

3 replies with less views is better for forum, because each reply is additional content

that's better measure

nope, because you never know what is behind of each view - there may be "oh, it is interesting" or may be "oh, again that  shit" or "oh, again click bite header with zero info", and each reaction still generates 1 view
