Guest Motel69 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I used to enjoy reading about Silom Farang's expat life in Thailand. Then one day he posted that he had better things to do with his time and disappeared. I did not read BKKDreamer quite so religiously, but still, he was always there posting away about life in Bangkok. Then one day he said Google was objecting to the content on his site and he too disappeared. All good things must come to an end, I thought. And, anyway, Rice Queen Diary was still hangng in there. But now my RSS reader says it has been three months since RQD's last post. Anyone know whatever happened to these fine people who invited so may Internet strangers into their lives? I'm not asking them to start blogging again. I'd just like to know that they're OK, especially Rice Queen Diary, who disappeared without a word. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 There are a couple of Gay Thailand related blogs, which have gotten going recently: http://khunbaobao.blogspot.com : Bao Bao is honest and positive. He makes some interesting, peaceful and reflective observations about Thailand and a little about the gay scene. He is for the most part, not keen on the paid sex side of Thailand, which can be refreshing sometimes. http://shamelessmack.wordpress.com is totally focused on the paid sex side of Thailand (along with some neighbouring countries). He makes his well organised observations, comparisons, reviews and opinions in a very fact-focused, detailed and somewhat anal-retentive (I mean this in a good way) manner, which makes it all the more interesting. Some of his directions and specific information are helpful. He is quite genuine and not at all shameless about his pursuit for satisfying experiences with moneyboys. I was sad when Silom Farang shut down his GayBoyThailand blog but I understand his reasons for doing so. The quality of his writing, observations, humour, wit and experiences was exceptional. Once the income stopped, it was only a matter of time before the lack of reward made the significant effort and head space of keeping up the not worthwhile anymore. I wish he had continued it with a lower level of intensity, but I'm happy for him that he's moved on, hopefully to bigger and better things. I learnt a lot and got a lot of laughs through his blog. I never followed RiceQueenDiary at all. Never read BKK Dreamer much but it's a real bugger that Google's content objections have now led to the downfall of two Gay Thailand blogs. Quote
Guest Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 We certainly have lost a few good blogs in the last year or so. Gayboythailand was a very fine read. Of the remaining active blogs, Shameless Mac is my favourite. I hope Rice Queen Diary is not going to die. There must be a few other good blogs out there. The following is a bit hit & miss, but I check it now & again: http://simonlover83.blogspot.com/ However, are there any really high quality blogs out there that haven't been listed in earlier posts? Guest beachlover Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Yeah, no writer will ever be as good as GayBoyThailand.com was. Witty and charming. I never really liked RiceQueenDiary much. If you read it the content is actually not bad but it's a shame the images are a complete turn off! Look at it right now. The home page is full of images of (in my own personal taste) really ugly boys and then if you scroll down you see a giant photo of a cockroach! http://simonlover83.blogspot.com is mainly about Malaysia. It's interesting but infrequent. http://robbyaoi.blogspot.com is also by a young gay Malaysian boy. Used to like it but only read it occasionally now. Quote
