Pattaya Hotels Approx 1100 baht/ night -which are good

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about accommodation for the next visit to Pattaya.

Perhaps I'll return to The Ambience, as their 1114 baht/night rooms are OK. On the previous stay there (three years ago), the rooms were nice & were also well cleaned.

What else do people recommend ?

Criteria:

About 1100 a night or less

Reasonable room, good cleaning regime, WiFi

Close to Boystown or Sunnee

did you mean 1200 Baht? coz price of 1114 do not include taxes...

I had stays in all gay-hotels in Jomtien beach and prefer this location coz it has more nice view at day time as well 3 of 4 hotels have prices lower than Ambiance. One more advantage is after walk-out from hotel in 5 steps you are at the beach's sand. I had one stay in Ambiance and prefer Jomtien now.

I probably do mean 1200, but if that's what it takes to get a nice clean room, that's what I shall pay.

I've tried a cheaper guesthouse on the 2 most recent visits, but this time round I would like to see some cleaner bedding.

If I stay in Boystown or Sunnee, I just get a baht bus to Jomtien during the day.

If staying in Jomtien, surely it will usually be necessary to get a baht bus to & from Pattaya at night, complete with any guests who might be returning to the room? Isn't it easier to take the baht bus during the day? Pattaya seems to have better restaurants, shops & even more competitive exchange rate booths.

Of course if Jomtien has some really good hotel options, with Ambience quality at lower prices I might be persuaded.

My point of view on this locations is opposite to your :)

When I stay in Jomtien - I can visit beach as many times per day as I want, can to have siesta (day time sleeping), can to have nice clean shower as many times as I want, and visit (sorry) my personal and very clean WC, I can not change swimsuit before I want to visit my room, can walk out from hotel directly in swimming clothes and don't carry with me towel.

And for to visit BoysTown or Sunee I will need the same bahtbus, at evening time and it will be more easy - coz they work 24 hours but by evenings and nights they aren't crowded like at day time and at this time as well no traffic jams.

For example you can't have in Ambiance balcony with recliners and jacuzzi&shower, table and chairs and everything in flowers, but you can have this in Room's Club in Jomtien. Just imagine: you are laying in jacuzzi at balcony with you BF or guest, eating fruts, drinking wine and watching sunset... ah...

In Bondi you will have more simple room, but still nice and clean just for 900 with balcony (again, nice seaview) and one of the best coffee from gay places in Pattaya (don't tell me about coffee in Ambiance... brrr....)

In Tui's you will have excelent thai food in restaurant from early morning till late evening (what you can eat in Ambiance if you are lazy to go out?)

So I prefer have once per day two-way trip to Sunee or BoysTown, than spend whole daylight-time in uncomfortable conditions just in sitting in chair at the beach...

Having stayed in places in both Pattaya and Jomtien, I can well see how it is possible to appreciate both sides of the coin, so Z909 is calling 'heads' and prefers to be based in Pattaya and Moses calls 'tails' and opts for Jomtien.

One of the bones of contention seems to be the sometimes awkward business of getting from A to B, and back again.

On previous visits I have hired a small Honda or Yamaha motorbike (or what i would call a moped). If you are based in Pattaya it is dead easy to get to Jomtien and, if I recall correctly, parking is only 10 baht and very easy and convenient. Easy to ride back into Pattaya at the end of the afternoon. If I were to be based in Jomtien that would be tricky as riding my moped into Boystown or Sunee in the evening would mean I'd have to forego any alcohol. One thing I won't do is drink and ride - that's madness. But people do of course and you have to watch out for them if you are on a bike.

I have no idea why to rent bike in PTT if baht bus cost only 10 baht...If we will start to talk about Samui (for example) where bus cost 60 Baht - then it have some sense.. But in PTT for ride within city...

That makes sense to me. More convenient to have your room near to the beach where you can make multiple trips back and fourth during the day rather than the night life, which you tend to only make one trip.

But it totally depends on your habits and where you spend your time.

Me, if I'm staying in a beach place, I will go for a run in the morning, then I'll grab a shower in my room. I might want to have breakfast on the beach before going back to my room to do some work. Then I might want to have lunch on or near the beach before spending the afternoon chilling out and reading on the beach. When the sun starts going down I will go back and leave my stuff in my room and go back to the beach to go for a run before going back to my room to grab a shower before dinner... So yeah, with that many trips between the beach and my room, it saves a lot of time if I make sure the beach is 2-3 mins' walk or less away.

We have choosen for our 3-weeks holiday in November TuisPlace for

I'm quite content to go to the beach a maximum of one time, for 3~4 hours or so. I don't want to return to my room during this time. Also, I would probably skip the beach on at least one day a week.

As I spend almost 40 days a year on holiday, of which maybe one week will be in Pattaya, I prefer not to spend 2~3000 baht a room, when clean accommodation is available for just over 1200. Over the years, that saving on accommodation mounts up and should allow me to retire that bit earlier.

I have tried some 6~700 baht rooms, but shall probably splash out a little more this time.

I prefer to stay in Pattaya. However, if any of the accommodation in Jomtien is a significantly better deal than that in Pattaya, I might give Jomtien a go.

Rooms Club looks very nice, but I'm not going to pay enough to get their best rooms. Also, their bar seems to have a mix of masculine guys & ladyboy shows, which isn't exactly my thing.

Z, are you looking for only gay places? If not, there are great deals at View Talay 6 for renters by day. I think the rate you mentioned is average, but it is an apartment and not a hotel. There is a thread on this site somewhere about a service that is great. I have had friends book with this company for a long time and love it and use it every time they go to Pattaya. They like being in a full apartment that is close to beach, mall and Boyztown. FWIW

View Talay looks like it's too far off the ground, unless I was lucky enough to get one of the lower floors.

Too far off the ground? I would've thought a higher floor with a better view/aspect would be more appealing.

Has anyone tried "Copa Rooms"?

Due to special offers, it looks like there's a slightly better room on offer for the money at the moment.

Even when I like "to eat meat" I prefer not stay in hotels in center of "meat market"... in fact it is the same like "Ambiance": in center of noise of bars in gay area within path of straight touristic groups ... their prices are with marketing tricks: without taxes and without breakfast...

I stayed over there quite a few years ago and under previous management. The rooms are O'K

but previous management forced to participate in Christmas Eve and New Year dinners.

The rooms at the back of the Ambience are quiet enough, so a good night's sleep is assured.

Where do you recommend staying?

Actually, it seems they display 2 different prices on the website. For example, on the room pages, a "superior" room is 1114 baht, but if you click through to the booking page, that's gone up to 1590 baht from 1 November. Obviously the recession must be well & truly over.....

High season starts...

About recommendations: I wrote already my point of view - I like to have accommodation with sea view and eye-candy view :) so I prefer to stay very close to beach - in Jomtien: there are about 5 gay hotels and even more gay friendly hotels, so you can choose from 600 Baht till 3000 per night...
