Guest MonkeySee Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I had heard a while back about the Thai authorities not wanting foreigners to own go-go bars. I wonder if there is any truth to that statement. I am not sure I would want to own or operate a gay bar in Thailand. I think it may be way too much trouble. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Wonder what the rents are in these joints? And the license situation. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 You know, some of these would be a really good business, show a profit, and be a lot of fun to own/operate...IF IF...it wasn't for the BIB and the payoffs that have to be made and the daily bullshit of dealing with the BIB..Big IF Quote

For those already there, they have little option than opening for business each day and hope for the best. Some current businesses, however, have decided to promote their business with creative and inviting marketing ideas... such as YaYa's Cocktail of the Week, Mike's LaCage Happy Hours, Guitarist appearance, Wine & Cheese Party, Concert attendance, and more. Corner Bar has their special snack menu with steak, fries for 150 baht and more. Some will survive...others will perish... and some will never know why they failed! Owning a business in Sunee area is NOT for me... But, I do wish them good fortune...and lots of luck! tj Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Yeah, the BIB would add a lot of uncertainty. I wonder what would happen if an NGO decided to do what this church did in Sunee Plaza: --- church members who for four years have photographed license plates of patrons and asked them if their mothers and wives know their whereabouts. --- http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gcXySeTAkVL92rH9L8AzVrMpy0KQD9HROVM80 Quote
PattayaMale Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 as far as the price of the bars go, everything is negotiable. Before I would pay any money I would check to see if the rent has been paid out. If the rent is not paid I imagine the owner of the building would be happy to rent the space out. Indeed spaces the business owners do not own the building. They may have already defaulted on their lease. So what is it that you are paying for from the owners. No customers no license no employees. So what does the 400,000 get you? Quote

A business in Sunee could be fun if it weren't for the BIB and the hassles. Everybody knows how to have a million baht business in Sunee....start with three million baht. Quote
