Guest Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 2.5 BILLION emails a day are pornographic in nature and GT (the person) send out 50% of them. You are kidding right? I only send out less than 700,000,000 per day. That is no where near half. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm curious... Does anyone pay to view porn? They can't possibly generate all their revenues from advertising. You are kidding right? I only send out less than 700,000,000 per day. That is no where near half. That's ok... just post more photos of Brazilian boys... I don't know what makes them so hot Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 As the tune from Ave Q suggests the Internet Is For Porn! OK, let"s see if I can embed YouTube vids on this forum. Grab your dick and doubleclick! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-TA57L0kuc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-TA57L0kuc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Quote
Guest Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm curious... Does anyone pay to view porn? They can't possibly generate all their revenues from advertising. You are kidding right? Porn is one of the hottest businesses to have in a bad economy. In bad times, the money does not fluctuate very much. In good times, people want to spend money. In bad times they cut back from expensive things and for most 15-30 USD is not a big sacrifice. Advertising. Humm. Check out Google. IMHO, one of the most amazing companies on earth. One of the very few I own stock in. Where do they make their money? Online advertising. Google Adwords for some keywords cost 20 US or more. In many case, they are over one dollar. When I first started using Adwords, I would put in bids of 4 cents to 7 cents. I would get 10,000 hits for a site. In fact, that is how this site got the most traffic initially. Now, if you did that and had to pay 30 cents for that and got 10,000 clicks you can imagine how much you would have to pay. My main source of my personal income is through SEO consulting. I advise companies in the USA (non porn) how to cut back on their advertising budget by getting their sites in the top 10 for their keywords. If a company is spending 50,000 a month with Google and they are able to get in the top 3, they then save 50,000 per month. So, many will hire someone like me to go in and work with them on strategies to get domain in the top. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm curious... Does anyone pay to view porn? Well that is more or less what Kate was asking in Ave Q. You are right. I have read the articles and all so I know online porn is a massive money spinner. I just have not met anyone I know who pays for it or think why anyone would, when there's so much available free... but then again that's not something people generally go around declaring do they? LOL Advertising. Humm. Check out Google. IMHO, one of the most amazing companies on earth. One of the very few I own stock in. Where do they make their money? Online advertising. Now, if you did that and had to pay 30 cents for that and got 10,000 clicks you can imagine how much you would have to pay. I was referring to advertising for the porn industry... all the ads obviously lead to other porn sites... eventually someone has got to be paying something to pay for all those clicks. Evidently, lots people do. Yes, I'm well aware of spend on online advertising overall. Online advertising spend just hit $2 billion a year for Australia alone ... freaking massive, and it will only get bigger! (If you think about it, that means advertisers spent a rough average of $100 trying to reach each of Australia's 20 million consumers through online mediums) Yeah, I know, keywords like "home loans", "life insurance" or "credit cards" cost a bomb. My main source of my personal income is through SEO consulting. I advise companies in the USA (non porn) how to cut back on their advertising budget by getting their sites in the top 10 for their keywords. It's the kind of occupation that allows you to live and travel anywhere you want huh? Very interesting field. I know a bit about SEO, but obviously not as much as someone who specialises in it. I work with companies that spend up to $250k a year on their SEO consultants. I know banks and other large enterprises spend even more. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Alright! I admit it! I have in the past paid to join a porn site. I can't be bothered with these pay-as-you go sites, but there have occasionally been clips I have seen on gaytube, xtube, the old masturbasian or similar sites that have, shall we say, tickled my fancy. And knowing the originating sites, I have - I believe 3 times - coughed up for a 30-day membership. I then downloaded as much as I could in that time before sifting the wheat from the chaff. I always made sure to cancel my subscription before the 30 day limit was reached. In all cases, I am pleased that I did 'invest' because some of the movies have been very good, to my eyes. I realise it is not so easy here in Thailand because some of these sites are blocked. It's one of the advantages of frequent travel outside the country that one can get one's money's worth in a 30-day period. Porn is one of the hottest businesses to have in a bad economy. In bad times, the money does not fluctuate very much. In good times, people want to spend money. In bad times they cut back from expensive things and for most 15-30 USD is not a big sacrifice. Rather like Broadway which had its first great heyday during the Great Depression. Most people need some form of escapist entertainment when times are tough. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Ah, there we go. I just wasn't looking for (paying) porn patrons in the right places Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Ah, there we go. I just wasn't looking for (paying) porn patrons in the right places It seems we have another non-sequitur. What on earth does that mean? You asked a question on a gay site which is one of the most likely sources to have a member or two who might pay to download gay porn. I answered honestly. Where do you come up with the conclusion that you "wasn't looking in the right places?" Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It was tongue in cheek... Lighten up. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It was tongue in cheek... Lighten up. As another posted has suggested, it would do you well to be more specific in what you mean to say - and how you say it. I am perfectly light, thank you very much. In fact, I see no need to be lighter. Perhaps you might also remember that some of us may lack your razor sharp mind and powers of lateral thinking. Happy dreams when you finally make it to bed in beautiful downtown Sydney! Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Alright... let's leave it at that! Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Alright... let's leave it at that! Accepted and appreciated. Now we must both hit the sack. At 3:52 am, you're getting quite close to sun up. Quote
Guest xiandarkthorne Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 This thread has made me realize something rather curious - nowadays, many people are quite happy to confess that they 'visited a prostitute' or 'got a blowjob in public'...but 'look at porn'? Oh, NO!!! Horrors...are you implying I'm a pervert of some kind?!!???!!! And paying for porn? As I'm one of those people who not only pay for it, but quite happily tell everybody (including my nearest and dearest) the truth when asked directly, I often get nervous sidelong looks and horrified titters - and from men, too. But I cannot begin to count the number of times I have also been secretly asked for my password to access a porn site by those same people who proclaim to all and sundry, "Only perverts do porn!" In this new, modern-thinking and progressive age, has porn become the new love that doesn't dare speak its name? Xian PS Before anyone asks, whenever people (even on occasion my 'dearest and nearest' ones) quietly ask for my porn site passowrd, I always respond as LOUDLY as I can, "Why do you want my password to the Sluttybois4sex website?" Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Xian, I am mightily relieved. So I am not, as beachlover seemed to imply, the only one on this Board! And before he asks, I am perfectly light this morning Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I don't pay for porn, not out of any moral objection to it. I just find it boring. For me sex should be participatory, not observant. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I don't pay for porn, not out of any moral objection to it. I just find it boring. For me sex should be participatory, not observant. I am sure many agree with you. I think, also, there is an argument to be made that an over-dependence on porn can lead to difficulties in sustaining real relationships. Yet again, I know some who find that watching porn together whilst making love heightens the experience. I have never been able to try that as my spectacles get in the way (hate contact lenses!)! Guest beachlover Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I'm one of those people who not only pay for it, but quite happily tell everybody (including my nearest and dearest) the truth when asked directly LOL... How do your family members deal with your attitude? Are they relatively conservative like most Malaysians I know or fairly liberal? I can't imagine being gay in a relatively small place like Penang, as opposed to KL, for instance. Do you find much gay life there? Quote
