Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 How often do they come to Pattaya? Will they be here again before the end of the year? Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 How often do they come to Pattaya? Will they be here again before the end of the year? lvd, Good Question...anyone's guess... They were here two months ago... and I think they probably will be back before years end. But, with the budget year ending... and cutbacks probably in the offing for next year which for USA budget year starting Oct 1st...who knows? If you need to get your income statement notarized by the US Embassy for your extension of Thai visa... best to do now...save a trip to Bangkok... And, you can apply for your Thai visa extension of stay aka the retirement visa... up to three months in advance of expiration. tj Quote

Guest travelerjim Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Does anyone know how far ahead of your visa renewal you can have your income statement notarized??? gsg, I sure hope within a few months is OK... I got mine when they were last in Pattaya in July... and will know for sure if OK when I go for my visa extension next week in SriRacha. I do know they only accept the ORIGINAL stamped US Embassy paper not a copy..as was allowed in years past. Possibly GB will add to your question... but I think it is OK if within a few months or so... from what I have remembered reading on ThaiVisa.com. I will also look for answer via ThaiVisa. tj Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I sent an email to the embassy, The reply I got was they have no further visits scheduled this year after Sept 9, but could possibly schedule one later. Last year I got my income verification letter several months before my renewal. I had asked the immigration officer who does the renewal if this would be ok and he said "Can". When I got my renewal I had no problem using the letter. So, even though my renewal isn't until Feb, I will get my letter on Set 9 to avoid that trip into BKK. Quote

I had asked the immigration officer who does the renewal if this would be ok and he said "Can". When I got my renewal I had no problem using the letter. I tried to renew mor than 3 months in advance and was told it was too early. I asked coud I use the letter I had in my possesion when I actually did renew which was about 6 months later and the lady captain (major) in charge said no problem. Not sure if a special case for me or not. Perhaps the letter is good indefinitely though every year immigration takes your letter. Quote

A Thai friend of mine early last year was returning to the USA where they lived. Her husband, an American, had a retirement visa for Thailand which would expire in the month of September. She asked Pattaya Immigration if he could get an extension early, as they needed to go back to USA. Pattaya Imm. said OK.. and issued the extension 5 months early. Moral of the story is to explain your circumstances with Patt Imm... I have found them to be very cooperative whenever possible. When in doubt kindly ask. Also, it might have helped that she was a MBA student at Sripatum Univ in Chonburi, and there were two Patt Imm Staff Officers who were also law students & grad students there too. tj Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 The 5 months seems like an exception. Barry Kenyon said the normal policy is that u can renew 90 days early. Many falangs would like to know exactly what are the requirements. But I think these falang miss the point. Immigration should have a certain amount of discretion rather than blindly following rules and regs. Quote

It is my understanding that the Embassy income letter can be used if it is not more than one year old. Also, that 3 months early is generally the maximum for renewal - but, as mentioned, if you have a special need to do it earlier, it might be possible - so act nice, explain the situation, and hope they are in a good mood on that day Quote
