Guest travelerjim Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 TW Steel Watches donated to Pattaya Police Chief as reported by Pattaya One News http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/27165/tw-steel-watches-donated-to-pattaya-police-chief/ Pattaya Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 It looks like a bribe to me. In the west such gifts would not be allowed (openly, at least). Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 In the US the chief would have to refuse to accept or donate to charity. This is always a bad sign, but even worse when it is put in the news???/ Figures for Thailand I am afraid. Quote

I agree with you... not in my hometown back in USA... would have been declined... but could donate to a Police Charity Fund. If they wanted to show their gratitude, they should have made donation to a fund for police charity for benefit of many police in the department. tj Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 The fact this was done so openly may indicate it's fairly acceptable in Thailand. A donation to "benefit many police" spreads the reward thin and would defeat the purpose of the gift, which is to reward those specifically involved in the case. Quote
