Guest travelerjim Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Pattaya Daily News eports: This baby was being smuggled out of Thailand... A two month old tiger cub was found sedated in a suitcase full of soft toys after x-rays raised suspicion among airport staff due to the presence of a beating heart and other vital organs appeared on monitors. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2010/08/27/tiger-cub-rescued-from-luggage-at-bangkok-airport/ Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Geez! It makes you wonder how many pythons, deadly spiders and other creepy crawlies might have escaped and now be lurking in the airport's nooks and crannies! Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Or, if any of them crawled from one suitcase into your own? Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 It just seems cruel and somewhat stupid to do such a thing. Didn't they consider that everything is scoped these days by some kind of machine??? Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Anyone stupid enough to do such a thing is too stupid to realize that the baggage is scanned. Quote
Guest Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 On my first trip to Thailand I met a Thai boy that had one of the tiny squirrels at the beach. I thought that it was cute but not good for a pet. Apparently it was rare. In the newspaper back in USA, someone tried to smuggle these into the USA by attaching the babies to their under the shirt, etc. They were caught and sentenced to multiple years in prison. Go to the weekend market in Bangkok anytime and you will see tons of exotic animals for sale and most of the vendors know where to get what ever you want if not in stock. I asked them for a unicorn. Typical Thai, they said, "Can" but actually they count not. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Or, if any of them crawled from one suitcase into your own? I once arrived in LA after spending a few days with friends in Kentucky where I was accommodated in their rather pleasant garden guest house. When I opened the case at my hotel, out crawled a rather large cockroach! Anyone stupid enough to do such a thing is too stupid to realize that the baggage is scanned. . . . and placed in a cargo hold where the temperature is way below zero most of the time. Quote

Any tips on finding it? Does it exist? I'm just curious to check it out. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 A Thai guy is caught trying to smuggle dozens of native Australian lizards and snakes out of Sydney Airport. He will be jailed for a few years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvTg7DEtFY0 Even though customs caught him BEFORE the plane even left the ground, the fatality rate for the lizards was eventually 40%. Imagine how many of them would have died if the suitcase had made the flight! Quote
