After he won he said in his first major interview that he won because of "inflation and the border".  I agree with him.  Had the entire world not gone through a few years of post-COVID inflation (which was probably caused by DEI, too), Harris would be POTUS.  And lots of other leaders kicked out in other countries by pissed off voters would still be in power, too.

I don't blame voters.  Especially voters who don't own homes and stocks.  Their net worth did not grow wildly, like mine did, during Biden's Presidency.  People were hurt by inflation.  Especially working class voters and younger voters who saw their rents skyrocket.  Wasn't Biden's fault.  But he had to own it, just like Trump had to own COVID in 2020.

So the one thing that should NOT be on Trump's agenda is to raise prices on the working class.  And he just made cars, clothes, groceries, and lots of other things more expensive.

This is really stupid.  Because it is way too early to reach any conclusions about Trump's approval.

But that chart makes perfect sense based on the early days. It is so early that RCP does not even have a chart, but it shows the same thing.  He does not have the support of even half of America.  It's almost exactly the percentage that voted for him.  Less than 50 %.

I'm actually glad there is some segment of Americans that is on the fence and has not made up their mind yet.  It gives Trump an incentive to act like a good President. But if we want to jump to a conclusion, which we should not, that door is closing with every plane crash and every stupid utterance that Trump then weakly backs down on when Wall Street wets its pants.  

And this is BEFORE the price of cars and clothes go up, which is when people will really notice it.

He is losing support quickly so far, just like in 2017.

Its fairly obvious which side of the media spectrum Bucky is on...  Any rational person that visits TikTok can FIND posts that support BOTH sides of Trumps public support , or LACK OF.   However, Bucky chooses to post the ones he chooses because they confirm the claims about Trump that HE personally believes and makes.   So whether knowingly or not, Bucky fell into the swampy Trump cult,  and once you are in it, its impossible to find your way out.  Bless his Heart ! 😡

That's true.

One of my liberal friends scolded me years ago for reading Real Clear Politics.  Which he said is right wing.  He's not wrong.  It has become noticeably more right wing in the past several years.  But I still love reading lots of the articles they post.  Partly because I want to know what the right wing is thinking.  Both the thoughtful pro-Trump conservatives, and the ones who just write stupid fawning conspiracy theory shit.  Call me a glutton for punishment.

I don't think anyone has objectively analyzed this.  But I think RCP's poll averages were slightly more correct this time than 538.  That's because they were slightly more weighted to the partisan, pro-Trump pollsters.  And even RCP slightly underestimated Trump.  They said he would get 48.6 % of the vote, and he got 49.8 % of the vote.  Close for a poll, and well within a margin of error.  But Trump did a little bit better than their polls showed.

My point is that RCP is basically pro-Trump. And they say exactly the same thing right now.  He does not even have the support of 50 % of America, in their poll average.  Once again, if we are being rational it is too early to jump to conclusions about what Americans think.  But there is zero evidence that his support is surging.

Sadly, if I had to predict, this is where reality is going.  This is the trend starting to emerge.  Because it is what happened in 2017.  Some minority will go in their tent and say it's all wonderful and America loves it.  They will worship their God.  And meanwhile, gradually, a majority of Americans will harden against the nonsense.

When these sophisticated voter studies that match up with voter files come out, which they have not yet, there is one question in particular I'm curious about.  Would Trump have won if the only people who voted in 2024 were the people who voted in 2020?  I think the answer is no.  I think Harris would have won.  In other words, I think the collective wisdom of EVERYONE who went through Trump 1.0 is that they did not want a Trump 2.0, period.  The exit polls suggest that, to me at least.  And I think the more refined studies will confirm it.

The reason that is relevant is that there were lots of young men who voted who were not paying attention in 2017. Because they were children.  They were pissed about high rents and car payments. They also didn't like being told their masculinity was toxic, probably.  So they voted for Trump. 

And especially among that group, before the election, a majority of them said they approved of his Presidency.  Even though they actually did not at the time, because they were kids and they were not polled.  This is why we have Trump 2.0, I think.  Young men who watch Tik Tok and think we didn't have this inflation shit when Trump was President.  I think Trump and his pollster Tony Fabrizio figured that out, to their credit, and played to it on Joe Rogan.  Trump went to McDonalds and said I get your problems.  Have a Big Mac.

So if I am even in the universe of being right, the last fucking thing these people voted for is to see the price of cars go up.  And that is what Trump just did.  They are not going to like it at all.  Trump is basically going to have to "educate" a whole new group of voters who did not vote in 2020 and are not really interested in politics.  But they are interested in what it costs to buy a car.

Again, we have seen this movie before.  The very low point of Trump 1.0's approval was when he tried to kill Obamacare.  That did not go unnoticed to Trump voters on Obamacare.  They did not expect him to hurt them.  He promised not to hurt them, or to give them something better.  They noticed when he just tried to fuck them instead.
