I will wait a bit longer to post the answers to see if anyone else wants to give it a try.I should tell you I got all of them right. Guess that makes me the oldest fart.

Posted

Damn, Bob, are we the only old farts here who remember any of those?

Hey, I resent that! (resenting, of course, that I would remember anything and conceding the old fart part....).

I simply guessed on #6,#12, and #19, and wasn't sure of those answers. #10 probably doesn't have only one answer (so I just "eenie, minie, moed" that one).

I am currently only "hoksip" so I actually may be much younger than you two older farts! :p

Okay, I have a trivia question for you old geezers (and don't be looking it up). Speaking of Howdy Doody, who was the first person to play Clarabelle the Clown? Hint: his first name was Bob.

Posted

Hint: his first name was Bob.

I didn't look it up. Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm thinking of Bob Keeshan, who later became Captain Kangaroo. That's the only Bob I remember offhand from that time period . . . unless of course it was you.

Nah, I'm a clown....but you're right, the first Clarabelle was the Captain.

Okay....what was the name of Pat Brady's jeep in the Roy Roger's television show? Two baht for this answer.

I just lost two baht. I don't have any idea. I don't even remember Pat Brady. The only thing I remember is recently seeing an out-take video somewhere of Trigger taking a shit while they were filming a scene.

That's too easy, the jeep's name was NellyBelle

Okay, owe ya 2 baht. But did you look that up? I knew the name but would have spelled it differently.

Ok, another 2 baht question. Remember the television show "Sky King?" What was the name of his daughter on the show? And what was the name of his airplane?

I know that one! And this time you've got it wrong. It wasn't his daughter. It was his niece, Penny. The airplane was the Songbird.

Here's one for you: Remember the television commercial "Mama mia, dat's a spicy meatball-a"? What was being sold?

No, I didn't look it up. I was a big Roy Rogers fan when I was a kid.

I have no idea about Sky King.

Another of its commercial was "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." Alka Seltzer.

Posted

Alka Seltzer.

Excellent! That's right. A lot of people think they were selling spaghetti sauce.

I think the old-timers out there will easily get this one right: Old Gold, Chesterfield, and Carlton were brand names. What was being sold?

Posted

Cigarettes, of course (I smoked Carlton until earlier this friggin' year....haven't been able to find them since).

Those cigarettes of the 50's and 60's were some pretty nasty smokes (not that the newer ones are all that healthy, of course). Anybody who smoked Camels or Lucky Strikes without filters had hair in places that other people didn't even have the places....

Can you name any of the regulars on the Lucky Strike Hit Parade. I remember two of them, one guy and one girl.

Guest lvdkeyes

Ok, now I'll try to make it rather difficult. What was Ecomcon? No fair looking it up.

No idea. What about the Hit Parade regulars?
