Cuban national Alejandro Triana Prevez was arrested on Thursday in connection with the homicide. Police said they seized jewelry and the equivalent of more than $36,000 in cash in the arrest of the fugitive, who was stopped by cops near a highway in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. ... Police say they want to speak to Sikkema’s estranged husband, who is also of Cuban origin, the newspaper reported Saturday. Rio police said that the couple was going through a “bitter” divorce and custody fight over their 12-year-old son, according to a report in O Globo, a Rio de Janeiro daily.
