If you have just one night, take care to spend at least 30 seconds looking around in any given bar before sitting down & ordering a drink. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Duangthawee, Silom Soi 4, and Patpong are all easy walks from each other? Which is the best BTS station or if a cabbie does not understand my version of Duangthawee, what should I say? Quote
atri1666 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 BTS is Saladaeng-Station. Surawongroad and Montien-Hotel will mostly do or Patpong. Never have had a driver not understanding Patpong. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Classic is at the end of what is commonly called Soi Twilight. Closest BTS station is Saladaeng. Subway is Silom. Both are a short 5 minute walk from Soi Twilight which is near the junction of Surawong Road and Rama 4. If going by taxi, get the concierge to write in Thai the address of the main Jim Thomson silk shop - 1 minute from Soi Twilight on the other side of the road - or ask to go to the Montien Hotel. And yes, Patpong is 5 minutes from both Saldaeng BTS and Soi Twilight - it links Silom and Surawong. But don't expect any gay bars there. Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Classic is at the end of what is commonly called Soi Twilight. Closest BTS station is Saladaeng. Subway is Silom. ... I would take issue with you about Silom being the closest Subway (MRT) station to Classic Boys. The next station along 'Sam Yan' is much closer. see the map However, I would not recommend any newcomer to use the BTS/MRT system if they have just 1 night in Bangkok. Take a taxi and tell the driver to take you to Surawong/Patpong. One note of caution: It will be quite safe for your taxi to take you to that area but on the return journey don't take a cab from anywhere on Suriwong near Patpong. Walk up to Rama 1V and collect a taxi there. Not all taxi drivers are crooks but usually near Patpong every taxi has a meter that's 'broken'. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 The next station along 'Sam Yan' is much closer The distances on that plan are merely an indication and far from accurate. I use both stations regularly and there's very little in it. Sam Yan may be a few seconds closer, but certainly not 'much closer'. I always think Silom is the safer bet, especially if you are not used to Bangkok - because getting orientated at Silom is easier. Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 As long as you are mobile & have printed off a decent map, it's possible to walk from either station in a few minutes. No if this link works, it's a Google map which shows the gay bars AND obviously is to scale. Just found it. Looks quite good. After the link, click on the top map, then click Classic Boys on the menu on the LHS. There are enough bars on that short street to keep you busy for a few nights. Google Gay Map Organisations like SPICEMAG.NET & DREADED NED do maps too, but these are not so scale. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Just stumbled across the gogo review section of Gay Thailand and see that the off fee does not include short time rooms.. I would imagine there are some in the area. Tipping? Will Pattaya prices work in Bangkok? Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Does Classic Boys have shortime rooms? No. Best to go to the Suriwong Hotel which has short time rooms at the end of the alleyway at the side of the hotel - about 2 minutes walk from the bar. The boys will know where it is. Quote
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Does Classic Boys have shortime rooms? Why not book one of the many hotels that don't mind your guest? Then if you want to change from short to long time, there's no problem. e.g. Rose hotel just 5 minutes walk around the back way. Quote
