Guest LastSamurai Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I've been told that dental treatment in Thailand is of high standard and relatively inexpensive. In Japan, fees are so exhorbitant. Though I have insurance in Japan that will cover 70% of costs, I'm wondering if it might be still cheaper to have dental work done in Pattaya, even without any insurance coverage. OK, I suspect there aren't too many dentists on this board. Even if there were, without an examination, it is baffling to ask for an estimate of costs. So, let me "self-diagnose." I'm convinced that what I require is full extraction of all remaining teeth (too many gaps for implants or bridges to work ) and installation of dentures which, preferably, resemble natural teeth of a 60 year old male, rather than something recognizably artificial at a distance of 6 metres. Does anyone have Thai experience with this sort of dental procedure? Can you give me a probable cost estimate? (Of course, I will negotiate this with the dentist prior to undergoing treatment.) Do you think this treatment can be completed in the span of a 20 day soujourn? (I assume Pattay dentists with a farang clientelle do not have long waiting lists.) Thank you. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Yes, it is of a high standard - and yes, it is relatively inexpensive. I can't estimate your specific requirements, but I can tell you that for crowns, bridgework etc. you're far better off having them done here. I should know - I've had most of my teeth fixed here! Guest lvdkeyes Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 My bf had 2 teeth extracted and 3 treatments for gingivitis and cleaning for a total of 6300 baht or about $180 USD. This should give you a basis of comparison. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 As another guide, crowns should now be between around Bt. 10,000 and Bt. 15,000 (US$285 - US$425) in Bangkok depending on quality - probably cheaper in Pattaya. Check the internet because some clinics and hospitals post their prices. Quote
