Members pauleiro Posted February 11, 2012 Members Posted February 11, 2012 In Rome this week end. Snow is there, so nice scenaries of roman monuments under snow, but it is not fun to go to gay venues in the middle of the night (most places start at 10.30 pm or even 11 pm). I particularly enjoyed Hangar which is a small place which has been very intelligently arranged. There are 2 bars of which one is in a non smoking area. The owner, John is american and is living in Rome with his lover, Gianni, since tens of years. He was at the cashier when I arrived and took time to explain me the rules, the dos and donts, supplied me with a UNO card which is required to enter the gay places in Italy. Very friendly indeed. The show was to start at 12.30 am. The stage is above the main room. Very nice. Bar is very nice and it is possible to chat with the neighbours. There is internet connection, large video screens showing porn and good music, .. The internet site claims that every thursday "Splendidi ragazzi italiani si esibiscono in sensuali Strips" (beautiful boys perform sensual trips". At 12.15 came a very muscular lad carrying a big bag (I don't know why strippers always carry big bags and in this particular case, it was not due to the outfit which was necessary for the show ... ). He was as muscular as a bull, had the face of a bull. And when he started the show, it was clear that his stripping skills were also close to the ones of a bull. His thought his sensuality would be coming from the time he would spend stripping and was wearing 3 tee shirts and 3 underwears, each time smaller. But from this tedious and long stripping only came boredom. At the end, he did not even show his dick which, from outside, had nothing spectacular. In addition, he was the only stripper that night ... Show was therefore very average but there is no cover charge and it was after all a good evening. Back to the hotel at 2 am. It is clear that after having seen the shows in Prague (Escape : just to see or Drakes to see and touch), in Boardwalk, Johnnys and Swinging Richards in Miami, in Montreal or in Brazil, one is becoming more demanding ... Some comments found on internet on Hangar Bar or on the Hangar internet site: "A cosy and cruisy little nook, run by the most charming and delightful Southern belle, Mr. John Moss, and his partner Gianni, so everyone feels welcome (and not just in the back room).” -PAPER MAGAZINE The Hangar was created practically as the result of joking amongst friends. Gianni and John, before thinking to open the Hangar, organized weekly large theme parties in their friendly apartment. Their group of friends became increasingly numerous, due to the amusing climate and always new experience. The desire to entertain came more frequently. The parties occurred more often. As all this fun was happening, Gianni and John’s future began to unfold. And so the Hangar was born in 197…and transformed immediately into the a point of reference, not only for their group of friends, but also first for all the gay community of Rome and for tourists immediately after. Founded July 4, 1984, as Rome’s first gay pub, the Hangar was, an still is, the most historically important and frequented pub of the capital. Located in Via in Selci, directly in front of Monestary Agostiniane, the Hangar’s interior clearly contrasts with its outside environment, the atmosphere of your typical American cruising pub. Traveling through the Hangar, you could stop off in the dark shiny bathroom where you could encounter a discrete jack-off fantasy, or continue your passage to the back pub where the pitch black dark-room awaits. Finally, a comment on the location itself: The Hangar is supposed to be difficult to find, which is not my impression. It is in a small street at number 69 (lol). In this street, the numbers are not: even on one side and uneven on the side, they follow each others on one side until the end of the street and then follow on the other side. So when you enter the street from the Metro, you will find on your right number 92 and on your left number 2 ... And the place is not difficult to find, there is a large gay flag on top of the entrance. Do not mistake with the other place, the entrance of which is between palm trees, and where there is also a large flag with only 3 colors above the sign "Carabinieri" wihch does not mean "Men only"' Hangar is at Via in Selci, 69 00184 Roma, Italy 06 4881397 Quote
