I beg to disagree, even after many years of learning in school or working in the hotel industry in Bangkok, I would call the general level of English "abysmal".

I am well aware that there are more, my preference for places in Silom/Sathorn is simply because I often have business in that area, so I walk past regularly. I just avoid places that charge considerably more than the average. It would be no problem for me to find and make myself understood in Thai elsewhere, but there are no places where I regularly walk past. I am not aware of any such places in Chaeng Wattana area.

Standard oil massage starts with customer lying on his front, there is little opportunity for the customer to indicate that he wants more. I wait until turn around (lying on my back), then I look at and touch my masseur. Some places have unfavorable lighting, if it's on the ceiling and not dimable, I find it inconvenient because I can't see clearly looking into the light.

I have been to Bang Saen twice. The stop on Sukhumvit road is called Nong Mon Market. Regular buses and vans to and from Pattaya and Bangkok. Tourists attractions are Wang Saen Suk Buddhist hell garden, Kha Sam Muk Hill (with religious place and wild monkeys) and Chinese Temple in Ang Sila (about 5 km north of Bang Saen) and aquarium at the university. The beach has about 20,000 (!) chairs (from count of rows and columns and concessions, rounded), it is wide and nice, better than Pattaya or Jomtien (by my standards). Accommodations is widely available and cheap (I paid about 300 or 400 Baht for one night). It takes about one hour to Pattaya (on Sukhumvit road on public transport).
