And I'm a bit wary, because I've been burnt by Vietnamese boys (more precisely Vietnamese money boys in Bangkok, no complaints about free Vietnamese boys in Bangkok and Vietnam). Just two of them spoilt it for all others. (Just like the many scams that are running in Thailand, a small one-time gain for one person, but a huge loss for the entire country.)

There is no commercial sex in gay saunas in Thailand (in over 200 visits to 40 different saunas, there were two hints that remuneration would be appreciated, which I instantly dismissed), and I hope it stays that way. Gay saunas is the only place where I can be absolutely sure that sex is free. With encounters online or in real life (disco, bar), you never know.

A good bar! Based on many visits and taking several boys over the last 7 years. Boys change numbers, however I had a boy Arm #13 from there (26oct2016, big tattoo of a head of a tiger on his neck below Adam's apple, PM me for picture, tattooes are a much better way to refer to boys, although I prefer boys without tattoos). We did only short time, and I would recommend him to friends and take him again. As for helping boys, in most cases we can only alleviate the symptoms, but not fight the underlying cause. Your new friend has lost his mobile phone or dropped it and it broke? You can buy him a new one, but some day he will drop or lose this as well. In 17 years, I have never lost or dropped a mobile phone.

I disagree. One of the reasons I rarely go to Soi 4 is the loud music. Not just loud music, a real cacophony of loud music, different songs from each bar, and noise from other customers (who have to shout at each other, just as I have to shout). And on top of that, someone might smoke on next table.

Seredipity - January visit - Bangkok, Pattaya, and back
ChristianPFC replied to ggobkk's topic in Gay Thailand
Yes indeed, after realizing from this thread that there is a general interest in the Royal Barges Museum, I wrote a post about my visit in November. -
This subject has been discussed several times before, here in brief what I said before: After two negative experiences (on from Fresh Boys ? around 2012, ok in bed but mercenary during negotiations afterwards - wanted 2000 for short time, I had to kick him out with 1600) and non-offable boy in Scorpion bar in 2013, I will not take Vietnamese moneyboys in Bangkok again. Experiences with free Vietnamese boys in Bangkok and Vietnam ok. (My experiences with between 5 and 10 money boys from Cambodia or Lao in Thailand all positive.)

Soft drinks (pineapple juice in Dec 2016) are just 100 Baht (same as Super A in Bangkok). Good luck with the sale, and hope the new owner continues to run the bar in a similar way.

From all my travels, Pattaya is by the the most convenient, biggest choice, reasonable prices. Sure I can get local boys for 500 Baht (no off fees, no drinks), but it takes a while to get them and they are not to order from the stage. The sauna scene in Phnom Penh, Saigon, Taipei is comparable* to Bangkok (although lower number of venues), and the gay hot spring in Taipei is unique. *Unfortunately, that means that most other customers there are too old and too fat for my taste, same as in Bangkok. With Taipei a notable exception: few fatties.

I know two: one is rich and doesn't care, the other is trapped in the the tourism bubble, but now mainly takes his business to Pattaya. I have long passed that stage where I look forward to a trip to Soi Twilight.

Years ago, the White Rose hotel in Pattaya (opposite former Happy Boys) had this note: (details in my blog http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2013/12/notes-in-hotel-in-south-pattaya.html) And in Thung Mahamek privacy hotel (near Malaysia hotel) I had to pay for a full night in 2013, as they don't rent room short time to same sex couples.

Bangkok/Yangon/Bagan/Mandalay Trip Report: Playing With Fire

ROFL! In Thailand, betel nut chewing is slowly being eradicated, only occasionally do I see old people in the provinces do it. In Myanmar it seem to take longer to get rid of this habit. -
Pattaya Trip (first timer) – 2nd to 7th February 2017
ChristianPFC replied to a topic in Gay Thailand
Where does it say so? I have not even read a rule that a customer has to buy a drink for himself, but I'm sure there is one. On the other hand, there is "no smoking" posted in most bar, and that rule can be broken. But the main question is, what impression does it give when you/I refuse to bye the boy a drink, or have the boy drink taken off my bill if I didn't explicitly order it. Cheapskate or someone who knows the game and isn't intimidated into buying drinks / paying for drinks he didn't order? You have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise the money requests become more frequent and higher amounts, and this is where I draw the line. I haven't witnessed myself, but others reported about inexperienced customers who were skinned alive by bar staff because they couldn't say "no". -

Happened to me as well (not that I went outside to smoke, but when I called a boy staff just brought a drink without asking me and put it on the bill, and I paid). But second time (different bar) I took that bill for the boy drink I didn't order out and only paid my drink and off fee. (That's a contentious point, if you are required to buy a drink for a boy before you off him; I usually do not because I don't want to sit and drink, I want to go home and fuck!). The pictures are small on my computer, but when I right-click and open in new tab (firefox), they are bigger. -
"Tawan now the gogo bar of last resort" is contradictory to "this place really seems to be on its last legs"

I know a few who would be delighted at the prospect of getting raped/molested on the overnight train. Joke aside, where did you get these ideas from? In addition, arriving at a railway station is a completely feeling (in a positive way) than at an airport. And I don't like security search and check-in at an airport.

Seredipity - January visit - Bangkok, Pattaya, and back

Yes it is. Off the beaten track and very few visitors. While only 900 m by air from National Museum, it's 1.9 km on foot. Do you have any special relation to Vietnamese? I ask because everyone else reports negatively (that includes me with two negative encounters with Vietnamese moneyboys), except two (one who has lived in Vietnam and speaks the language, the other has a Vietnamese boyfriend who assists in choosing moneyboys - if I got that right). -

How did you blur the faces in the screenshots? -
1 Or saving a night in a hotel. Going by train is between 600 and 1000 Baht (depending on class), similar to a mid-range hotel, and the following morning you wake up at your destination. 2 That I agree with. I have taken many over night trains, and usually don't sleep well. But SRT recently bought new sleeper trains, will arrange my next over night train trip to take one of these. 3 There is not that much to see. I once took a bus CM-BKK during day, just road and cars. I take the overnight train on purpose, I would quickly get bored on such a long trip if I were awake.
-
I had that a few times last year, boy telling during chat or just after arriving that he has only little time. If that happens, I tell I will meet another time (when I want to see him and he is not pressed for time) and say goodbye.
-
Or the overnight train (schedule 12 hours, in reality often 14 hours). CM is definitely worth a visit. If it's your first time, one or two weeks should be enough. If you are interested in temples, there are a lot in and around CM. Boy-wise, I always liked what I saw at Adam's apple. Getting around by public transport can be tricky, details of public transport in CM see here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2016/07/buses-in-chiang-mai.html There were positive reports about booking taxis with uber (no personal experience). Gay friendly, joiner friendly, or to put it bland: you want to take prostitutes back to your room, has never been a problem in any of the hotels I stayed in. The only thing to watch out for is a "joiner fee".
-
When I travel in the provinces and don't indulge in the 3 P (pizza/pasta in Italian restaurants, prostitutes, private transport), I spend on average 1000 Baht per day (hotel, food, public transport, entry to national parks or museums). However this is not generally applicable, as speaking Thai helps a lot and my standards for food, hotel, transport are low.
-
And what did you finally pay? Not necessarily dishonest, might just be poorly organized. I negotiated a discount in Soi Twilight (300 instead of 400), the receipt showed 400, but when I told cashier that I was told 300, they changed it and I paid 300. Some people might not find it worth the trouble negotiating with doorman, and then when paying discussing it again with cashier, but I have seen the average drink price increase from 200 to 400 in about 7 years, extrapolating this means in 2025 average drink price will be 1000, and Dream Boys will lead with 1500 (drink price!).
