How could United Airlines have screwed up so badly?
ChristianPFC replied to steveboy's topic in Gay Thailand
Never. I haven't even heard of this before this event. This dynamic pricing is to keep people busy. The same for all other memberships schemes I know of. About 10 years ago, I calculated advantages and disadvantages of membership at supermarket or agoda, and came to the conclusion that it inconveniences me more than I gain. (A Farang friend came to the same conclusion and rejects all discount vouchers and similar stuff.) For me, the anger about changing prices is stronger than the joy about a cheap flight. Anyway, this is all just to trick your mind. Sounds like a conspiration theory, but I think most of what happens nowadays is to either anger the public or to make them happy, just to keep them busy to they don't know, leave alone think, about the real problems. I have flown about 200 times in my life (others probably more, share your stories), and never missed a flight or couldn't take it because something more important came up in my life. For this reason, I don't take travel insurance which is usually 10% of the flight. Taking the risk is cheaper for me. Anyway, I would have a system of the shorter before flight you cancel, the lower the refund. Like 1 month 90%, 2 weeks 50%, 1 week 30%. -
Do you satisfy with the boy you off overnight?
ChristianPFC replied to manuelmendez's topic in Gay Thailand
Because there is no other choice. Similar to cathode ray TVs and monitors. Do you remember these heavy and bulky devices? Now replaced completely by flat screens, but at that time there was nothing better. -
What is the reason for the bar closing? I would say as the smallest bar in Pattaya, Vassa just had not enough volume. A bar twice the size of Vassa and twice the number of boys would pay double for rent and double for the boys, but draw in three times the number of customers. Vassa was simply below the optimum size.

I used the word troll incorrectly. None of your posts were "disruptive or attempting to sow discord", but most of what you write is difficult to believe. However, I'm a scientist, I don't believe, I know or I don't know, verify or falsify facts. But I can't verify everything, especially if logic is working against me. If I meet you in Chiang Mai that proofs that you are there, but if I don't meet you in Chiang Mai that does not proof that you are not there. It's very easy to proof that someone is who he claims, just meet an established forum member. It's difficult, close to impossible, to proof that someone is not who he claims. Welcome to gaythailand, try your luck here! Share your experiences, ask your questions, let's see what others think. I'm certainly willing to give you another chance.

How could United Airlines have screwed up so badly?
ChristianPFC replied to steveboy's topic in Gay Thailand
As far as I see when I book flights, flexible flights are about twice the price of fixed (date and time) flights. And fees for changing date and time of flight are substantial, estimated 10-20% of flight price. There is something wrong (morally) in this scheme of overbooking flights. You just don't treat your customers that way (only in airlines and gogo bars - I'm referring to vinapu's reports on boys reneging on settled deals when something better came along - does this pass without customers boycotting the business). We established above that this lowers prices in low single digit percent range. I would rather pay a few percent more and do away with overbooking and dynamic pricing. -
On the other hand, it's a buyer's market. Most boys don't have a customer. And furthermore, the customer has the option to have a wank to porn instead of offing a boy, whereas the boy has no other option to get money for food and rent.

Different pricing structure. Girls command short time fees starting at 3000 Baht, from reading stickmanweekly. So drinks are cheaper in girly bars, but short time or long time is more expensive. And there is this awful coyote girl scam, girls that cannot be barfined or command even higher fees, like 1000 off fee and 5000 short time.

This is the address: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/ Can you open it? If not, I have no idea. But let me know where you are, it might be location.

Singaporean exchange student in Chiang Mai? I have heard that story before: http://sawatdeenetwork.com/v4/showthread.php?18348-Hey-there! (for those who don't read SGT: sglad was outed as troll and banned there)

After many years of experience (sounds nicer than: disappointments, lies and deceptions) I do long time only if we click and the boy initiates it. -
How could United Airlines have screwed up so badly?

http://www.easyjet.com/en/help/at-the-airport/oversales Can't let this go uncommented, as I think it's a blatant lie. If a passenger paid for a (non-refundable and not flexible) ticket and does not show up, he loses the ticket price and the airline has a empty seat that is paid for, REDUCING their cost (although only marginally: a little bit less fuel needed because the airplane is lighter and little bit less time needed because one passenger less to process). Now they started counting on that out of 100 passengers one a plane, one might be late, die or have other urgent issues between buying ticket and time of flight, and sell 101 tickets. And often that works out, and for 101 tickets sold, only 100 passengers show up. This shows as well that we are talking about a difference in price of 1%. For that 1%, all these hassles and now this unforgivable event. Trains and buses don't overbook, and don't have dynamic pricing, why do airlines? I think all explanations by airlines on this subject are bullshit, like the example above. (And issue that was discusses before with much controversy, airlines selling flights A-B-C and passenger taking only A-B flight and being CHARGED for not taking B-C flight fits in here as well, another example of what strange things go in in airline pricing.) -

I had boys telling me during negotiations for short time (writing on Line or calling) that they have to leave soon (at xx / within xx minutes), in that case I abort and tell the boy to meet another time when he has more time. I can't have sex looking at a clock (or my partner looking at a clock). I used to do long time in the past (2009-2013), but then aborted it. Too many unknown, starting at sleeping preferences (I want a quiet aircon at 27 deg C, no light and sound, that means the boy cannot even play on his mobile phone while I'm trying to sleep), to different times of getting up. I don't need that, rather "fuck and go". Nowadays longtime only when we click and the boy (can be free or paid) just stays afterwards, we don't even speak about it. Most get dressed, which is my cue to pay, others get back into bed, and stay over night. I don't understand the reluctance of some boys to do over night (as expressed in several posts), wife, kids, roommates, that all can be arranged and would well be worth the extra money. But if the OP wants LT for the same price as ST (do I read that right?), then I understand the boys. -
The problem is, few of the money boys I encountered in Thailand were good. Just off the field, no talent, being lured by the comparatively large amount of money that can be made. The vast majority is unskilled labor, no talent, no training. I do make that comparison (500 Baht for an hour in my room is a good deal for the boy, compared to 300 Baht minimum wage), and get plenty of takers (boys who do not speak English and had little or no contact with tourists before, at least no sex with tourists before. Once they get into the market servicing foreigners, the 500 Baht times are probably over). I happily pay 1000 for the few boys who are good, to come to my room (no travel for me, no drinks, no off-fees), but from experience I can't see that any boy would be worth the prices now paid in Soi Twilight. For the touristy markets, everyone can easily look elsewhere and find the same stuff for half the price, just a few km away in Bangkok (e.g. Patpong night market versus MBK). For male prostitution, you have to travel to Pattaya to find the same service at reasonable prices.

Badboys June Trip to Bangkok....Suggestions Needed
ChristianPFC replied to Badboy81's topic in Gay Thailand
Badboy's June Trip to Bangkok (better with apostrophe) I consider Asiatique a tourist trap. Hopefully not. Bad enough this can be done elsewhere in Thailand, unethical treatment of animal. The lesser known water markets maybe, the famous ones (Ampawa, Damnoen Saduak) are tourist traps. Reclining Buddha (not leaning Buddha, not sleeping Buddha - Buddha does not sleep!). -
The amount of money in the wallet is not visible from outside. Songkran 2013, my passport was stolen. The thief probably would have preferred my wallet, and so had I (cheaper and less hassle than getting a new passport). How did that work? Did the thieves return to the same spot, and key the stolen wallet on them? "Stealing for dummies": change locations and instantly hide the stolen item.

Sorry to hear your experiences were poor. Enticed by fountainhall's reports, I have been to Taipei in Dec 2016 and loved it (all aspects: public transport, food, boys, sightseeing, weather)! Full reports here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2017/01/taiwan-general-impressions.html http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2017/01/gay-places-in-taipei.html I will go again next month. I use google maps for navigation, and found all places I wanted to visit with google maps. (I don't use local SIM card, so download maps for that area, so I can use maps offline.) http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/10844-taipei/?p=104897

I wish my phone had a separate button for airplane mode, so I can switch it silent instantly, even without unlocking. For various occasions, I switch my phone to silent: sleep, sex, cinema.

Not beer, pure alcohol. I didn't know there is a tax on massage parlors. The wording is not clear: "and massage parlor 1,000 baht a service", something is lost in translation.

I pondered starting a thread "In Defence of Abidismaili", but now will chime in in what PeterRS said (read it again, an excellent analysis and valuable advice, I think.) Now that others have pointed out that abidismaili (this forum), AsDaRa (sawatdeenetwork) and thaifarang (gaybuttonthai, now banned) are the same person, I can see some similarities. He asks a question in an existing thread, doesn't get the answers he is looking for, asks again (now starting a thread), still doesn't get the answers he is looking for, assumes other are involved in illegal activities, or doles out insults at the elder, repeat on a different subject. But I don't think he is a bad person (maybe a troll), the problem is just analysis-paralysis and poor social skills. I can commiserate, because I have similar problems. But after several years of living in Thailand, I have overcome analysis-paralysis. So my advice is: plan less, go with the flow.

Last year I had a trip to Kanchanaburi over Songkran (not to celebrate, but to escape), and there everything was quite civilized (I don't like the madness of Silom at all). I advise against traveling to a new place for Songkran. There might be problems with transport, accommodation, and then different areas celebrate Songkran at different times.

I guess most customers buy a drink if they invite a boy to sit with them, and in many places staff will pester you incessantly as soon as the boy walks to your place. I had cases where staff just asks the boy what the wants to drink and does not get confirmation from me, the first time I sucked it up, the second time I had that drink I did not order removed from the bill. But there is no rule you have to buy a boy a drink. I usually do not buy the boy a drink. However not tipping would be rude and quickly get you a bad reputation. If they don't want to stay long time, they will come up with all kinds of excuses to renege on the deal made in the bar. Ask Vinapu. There is no way to make sure a boy who agrees to long time in the bar really stays long time. Street food and small restaurants do not expect a tip. Fancier places often add 10% service charge (of which only a small amount might be distributed to staff, I vaguely remember reading on the internet that one owner uses the service charge to pay the electricity bill, or something like that).

Wearing Seat Belt compulsory from today 5 April 2017
ChristianPFC replied to Jasper's topic in Gay Thailand
That is one famous spot for taxi not turning on the meter. From limited experience, if you cross the road (to the side with Soi Saladaeng), no problems there. I usually sit on the front seat (better view), and there was always a working seat belt. The few cases I sit in the back, rarely working seat belt. I assume seat belt for front seat is more important, as in case of crash you would go through the front window, whereas for back seats, you path would end when you hit the seat in front of you. -
Probably legal, but the problem lies elsewhere: whoever wants to extort money from you, can construct whatever they want from this situation (you naked with a 17-year-old in a room). I vaguely remember a Farang friend telling me that elsewhere in South-East Asia, a foreigner being in a room with a local minor (and no-one else) can lead to all kind of accusations and is to be avoided.

Great report! Can you elaborate on Aquarius please? It's a guesthouse with gay sauna, and the sauna is open to everyone? My impression of the gay prostitution scene in Patong was positive last year, but everything else I didn't like: too touristy, food twice as expensive as elsewhere, too much traffic with little public transport. Details here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2016/12/phuket-patong-29nov2016.html
