  2. For the drink it's clear, they expect you to pay for it. I had it elsewhere in Boyztown, invited boy to sit with me and without waiting for my consent, waiter brought a drink, which I refused to pay for. But the snack might be complimentary. I remember in Funny Boys, they gave peanuts with every drink order, even filled them up when they were empty on my table.
  3. A practice I disapprove of. First come, first serve. I would be pretty pissed off if I found a boy I like and learn that he can't go with me now.
  4. And what did it cost you? (off fees and tips and drinks separeated for boy and girl?)
  5. What a mess and confusion offing the boy! Could be a chapter of my life.
  6. Years ago I fell for the trick, expecting one of the handsome boys from outside to go on the stage, so I can have a look at him in underwear and off him. But then whenever I pass, the same boys sitting outside. I might be able to take a picture next time I'm in town so everyone can point out which boy they mean. I hate lies and deception, and non-offable boys qualify for this, and will not set food in Toy Boys any time soon.
  7. Unrealistic exaggerations. I have been wearing backpacks all my life and never had or caused problems. You are inventing problems that do not exist.
  8. Welcome back!
  9. I posted my experiences from last year on my blog.
  10. Sorry, but I need a backpack (necessity) and other luggage when I travel and demand to take that with me in the train. Technically, there are signs "no oversized luggage" in MRT, on the other hand, the ARL has compartment for luggage. (backpack is the one word of the English language that I often spell wrong, like in my previous post "to take my bag pack off")
  11. I noticed several of them during my travels, but didn't have a chance to stay in one of them.
  12. The checks are perfunctory. I carry a decoy bag over my shoulder (takes 3 seconds to take it off, open it, put it back; versus at least 30 seconds to take my bag pack off, open it, put it back).
  13. There are some at Hua Lampong as well, where the MRT exit is. Prices are rather high, I vaguely remember I spotted 300 Bath for 24 hours for the biggest size, that's minimum wage, you could hire a Thai do watch your luggage for 24 hours for 300 Bath (however, the storage is more reliable!).
  14. If you want a money boy to stay over night, that will be costly and difficult. The reluctance for long time has been discussed multiple times in this forum.
  15. There are two schools of thought on having sex with gay or straight guys. I belief that a gay who is not into me enjoys having sex with as much as he would enjoy having sex with woman or a cow. But I can live with that. I don't care if the boy I pay for having sex with me is gay or straight, as long as he can perform. You are in the other school of thought.
  16. Which bars are you referring to? There is only Super A, Golden Cock and Nature Boy left. For saunas, there have been various closings and a few new openings, details in my blog. Apart from prices having gone up (bus/taxi/BTS/MRT a bit, drinks in Soi Twilight a lot), and venues opening/closing/changing names, not much has changed. Most notable might be the absence of street stalls on Silom road and other places, now you can finally walk on the sidewalk!
  17. What is "travel insurance"? The kind of insurance that helps you when your flight is delayed or cancelled luggage lost? I never took these, and saved a lot of money! Later in the article it becomes clear they mean health insurance: It is the onus of the business operator to make sure his customers can pay. Not something the government should interfere (apart from prosecuting those who use the service and don't pay, if necessary in their home country). All my minor health problems I got treated in Thailand, I paid in cash after the treatment. I assume for more expensive treatments, the hospital will ask for coverage first? Anyway, if a tourist gets injured, the person who caused the injury should pay for the treatment. Most probably it's a Thai, so they should force their citizen to have an insurance! Like popular subjects on the forums, this insurance is one that comes up every now and then, to be quickly forgotten.
  18. My underline. One of the reasons I rarely go to Jomtien complex is that I like to watch boys in underwear (like in gogo bars). Seems I would just have to stick around longer? But then, 3 am is way beyond my bed time.
  19. I have been many times for their second hand book sales (twice per year, around May and Nov). Good luck with the renovation.
  20. One could say I'm too lazy to eat. Most other activities are more interesting than eating, so I postpone eating until I feel hungry. I would rather put my finger into a power to recharge my energy instead of eating. When I travel, I have to make the most out of daylight. By getting up at 9 and leaving at 10 (after breakfast), I lose 4 hours already, so I might only have a snack during day not to waste time eating, and wait for nightfall for my second meal of the day (after breakfast). When traveling with friends, eating is always a contentious point. I can eat anywhere, anytime, almost anything, whereas my friends are picky (especially concerned about cleanliness of the place).
  21. Probably referring to Sukhumvit Soi 26-38, Rama IV end? After such a heavy rain with poor draining, it's interesting to see how uneven the roads are, and where there are low points. This could even be something to consider when choosing a place to live: look for signs of flooding (like an elevated walkway built by locals to get across large puddles) - a friend complains about soi dogs in front of his place, he doesn't like going out or coming back in darkness for fear of being bitten. I observed the draining being cleaned (ususally by prisoners - their shirts or the car has the name of the prison on it), there is a lot of garbage and sand partially blocking the drains.
  22. In your circumstances (pick them up in a bar and take them home, and being a well known customer), they probably are honest. And the outcome - sex for money - is clear. And no confusion about place and time to meet. However in my situation, looking for free sex, with the very distant prospect of the relationship, I encountered all the deceptions and manipulations I described in my blog. Some of them can pass as cultural or language misunderstanding.
  23. So he tells you. You are planning and expecting too much. The same can happen from the other side, I have had boys I haven't met asking me if we could become boyfriends. Skip all the wedding planning, go to see him in real and spend some days together to see if you work out.
  24. I don't drink water from bottles, and I don't have a filter at home. I drink water straight out of the tap, without ill effect. As for willpower and belly fat, genes play a huge role. Some boys just have perfects abs and pecs without ever setting a foot in the gym. Even if I went to the gym, I wouldn't reach their perfection. Anyway, I care little about my own abdomen and pecs, more about others. Those with the wrong genes fight an uphill battle trying to get slim. Unhealthy food contributes. I am blessed with taste buds that tell me that cold (refrigerator or iced) tap water is about as delicious as a drink can get. Sometimes orange juice or watermelon fruit shake can top that. And my sensation of hungry and full is that I only ever feel full after an all-you-can-eat-buffet. Before a normal meal I'm hungry, and after a normal meal I'm not hungry any more, but would have to eat the same meal (or similar amount of another dish) again to feel full. So basically, my nutritional status vacillates between hungry - not hungry. (Ten years ago, I had a friend who used to open the top button of his pants and hyperventilate after meals.)
  25. You are a patient man. Thailand is a different game than the US or Western Europe. Read my blog for some stories. However, if the boy speaks English, that's a good start (part of the reason for my poor success is that I speak Thai and have access to all village idiots).
