Hope you check out Eros Bar, Nice Boys and Good Boys but don't be offended if they shake their wieners in your face.

I do agree with you Alexx and would not want to see this board go the way of another where anything off topic fun becomes verboten. But cannot have serious replies to what was meant to be a serious post turn into a free for all. Well, at not least until the seriousness finally turns to silliness. Humbug to Einstein and his puzzle; probably he never made that thing up!

Maybe you have the right approach matt, I think I will ask my Thai bf to keep the floor clean, go to the store/market for me and I will take care of him. Sounds like like a houseboy/maid than an apprentice to be mentored. No, I did not turn this into a soured thread; that was done by others who posted on topics having little/nothing to do with your original post. Mentor, a friend of Odysseus entrusted with the education of Odysseus' son Telemachus. Houseboy is typically a male domestic worker or personal assistant who performs cleaning and personal chores. The term has history within British colonialism, military contexts, as well as in the Gay community.

You. You started off an interesting post and then, on your second post, you wandered off topic which started a cascade of irrelevant replies (Einstein's Puzzle, Raw Sex for example and your "boyfriend" ) although some posters did try to stay on topic. Of course, derailing topics is always an ever present peril, however, you, as the OP. should have guided discussion back on topic rather than let it fragment.

matt, suggest your rename your post to "my wannabe bf is all fucked up". Wish I never had posted a reply to your original post and will remember that in the future.

Here is a post made on Gaybuttonthai which highlights efforts made by TingTong Red in Sunee Plaza to bring light to the doom and gloom. I have seen the shows at TingTong Red and they are fun to watch. http://gaybuttonthai.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7934

Albert Einstein was German so natural this the answer to his puzzle was another German. It was another Austrian physicist, Schrodiger, that had a cat. Christian owns a chicken, a cock and cdnmatt owns a dog.

Raw sex and Einstein's Puzzle and Excel spreadsheets have what to do with the subject post? Guess I should not have taken matt's post seriously.

Matt, an interesting and thought provoking topic you raise especially for someone in their mid-thirties. I will try to answer the primary question but not all the subcategories. Yes, since I was in my mid-thirties I have tried to foster/mentor several younger guys over the ensuing years. Not just in Thailand but at home. Sad to say but my efforts were a miserable failure. Or was it that those I mentored were miserable failures? Only consolation is that some of them have had kind words for me in recent years. One in prison wrote "what would I do without you". Another always tells me and his friends that I was a great influence on his life and that he wished he listened more carefully and took my advice. Then there was the Canadian (Quebecois) lad who, after a period of 10 years, recently emailed me to say how much a good influence I was on him and that he had now gotten his life back together again. So, maybe some seeds fell on fertile soil?

When flying in Biz Class I have ordered the Japanese meal when flying to and from Tokyo however that option is not likely when in Economy. That was on Delta.

After reading this post I did some original survey at a go-go bar and found there was no one who came in under 4.1 ". Even the one lad who was " small" measured over 4" when hard. And by the way, why is cock size always measured in inches rather than cm in countries that use the metric system?

Double Shot (old Corner Bar) now open again with the return of the owner. All of Me(s) is one of the "bright lights" in Sunee Plaza that is trying to alleviate the gloom along with Ting Tong Red, Sky and Double Shot. These businesses deserve praise and patronage, not criticism and boycott.

If, by chance, I come across as Mr. Big Tipper and everyone should tip as I, I wish to clarify that. I am not telling others what they should/should not do, rather that they should not demonize "tipping" and perhaps consider the good it may do in a society where money is hard to come by and a few extra Baht can make a difference in someone's life. Likewise, as mentioned in above posts the tipping culture in other countries such as USA(big tippers) or Japan(no tipping) are not applicable in Thailand.

For a long time at All of Me the waiters would ignore me; I even had to beg for a drink. I asked them the problem and they said "you not look happy". So I then put on my happy face and now they all know me by name, know my drink preferences, keep my glass filled and give me head and shoulder massages and they get 100 Baht tip. So be careful what you wish for it might come true. You may try sitting at the bar next door to All of Me. The waiters there will really make sure you will return but no long trousers, a nice pair of shorts works best.

The other night there was a deal of activity in Sunee Plaza with Ting Tong Red having quite a show on the soi including a comedy act, a traditional Thai dance, the B Boys and others acts. In addition All of Me had a birthday party for Neung with the usual Issan karaoke music and singing. One way to insure the boyz at the beer bars in Sunee will not pester you is to look and act grumpy and aloof; works every time. Also wave them off if they touch you, speak with you or sit with you and never buy them a drink or tip them. Even better is to speak with them in a language other than English or Thai to really drive them away.

No doubt there are loners who are well adjusted however many of these loners are alone because no one wants to be with them? I know of several loners who do need attention and get it by calling "friends" on a daily basis to get some human contact or post often on forums. In person they are more loony than lonely.

Lucky you, often times in beer bars it is a challenge even to get a waiter to notice you. I have been to All of Me many times and have never seen the type of action you describe. Simple enough, just don't order another drink if you don't want one. Some customers sit their for hours nursing a bottle of water and are not bothered.

Actually it is not a simple poll. Do you mean live in Thailand 12 months out of 12 or something else? 6 out of 6 ???

Referring to tipping as an "evil" (per ChristianPFC) certainly taints what otherwise can be considered an act of charity or kindness. As for tipping being irrational with no moral basis I would disagree. Kindness, charity and benevolence especially to those who are less fortunate than oneself is a virtue.

There are many farang who have had the experience of a BF and lived to regret it.
