  1. Sounds like a death wish! I do ride motorbike taxis and have a motorcycle license in my home State but would not chance riding in Thailand esp in Pattaya. Yes, I live my life in the slow lane.

    Because they are wearing clothes?
  3. Peter the apostle was a married man, at least he had a mother in law. It is unknown if any of the others were married or unmarried.
  4. It does seem that patrons become invisible when time to pay the bill in many restaurants in Thailand which is most frustrating. As for the water situation, best to invite Jesus among your guests especially if you like wine and fish.
  5. I now am a Delta flyer after NWA merged with them but am unaware of any upgrade certificates. Maybe only for Platinum? I am just a Gold. But do get upgrades to First Class (domestic) if seats available.
  6. My strategy for avoiding costly water is to only order wine at the table and sneak in a bottle of water which I swig down in the men's room. Tacky but thrifty!
  7. Maybe because GB went to Vicki two weeks ago and posted his review on this forum? Your going to have to run faster to keep up with GB!
  8. On a recent flight on Delta to BKK, in Business Class they switched from cashews to peanuts although they still served champagne. The Delta website does not seem to offer the same options as NWA such as upgradeable tickets/fares. I suppose one must call to find an upgradeable fare? Most, if not all, the flight attendants are NW staff and even older than I.
  9. For me, 5 minutes at 05:00 AM.
  10. No matter what you say GB, Jesus loves you!
  11. Although I have had some good food at Cherry's(in low season) it is quite crowded and loud during the high season especially for their popular buffets. The restaurant close by is WI'S which has excellent food and quality service in a relaxed atmosphere but more pricey than Cherry's. http://www.wis-restaurant.com The difference, you could say, is between "eating" and "dining".
  12. I may like some re-runs that provide pertinent, meaningful and worthwhile info on an earlier topic but hartwell's posts do not seem to do that. He made 6 posts/responses to topics that went back to 2006 all on the same day and within a period of 30 minutes. The posts almost seemed like computer generated responses similar to spam emails that are nothing but gibberish.
  13. Another post resurrected from 2007 by the newbie, hartwell.
  14. Yes, just try drinking some local wines and see how good they are. All double talk.
  15. I came across this vintage war poster. Just could not resist sharing it with all you other wannabe seamen. Must have been some gay illustrator who designed this one. Nothing subtle about this message!
  16. Firstly, my apologies to RichLB. I overstated my case about Pattaya being sleazy. Secondly, thanks to shebavon for your balanced analysis of Pattaya as multi-faceted. The gentrification of neighborhoods in US cities does ring a bell with me. The Liberty Bell actually! Years ago in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, there was a blighted area known as Society Hill. Over the years it changed into a charming and most desireable place to live. Oddly, at the same time, the main street, Market Street, the pride of any major city turned sleazy.
  17. I do agree with you, RichLB, Pattaya is nothing like I ever went to with my family as a youth!! And I do wish there were places like Pattaya in my youth and in my younger years. No, I think we are staying in the same place but perceive it in different ways. My travels are limited but Pattaya is on the bottom of my list as family oriented. I always thought Tijuana, Mexico was at the bottom but Pattaya is much lower. Although I would never again go to TJ I still have Pattaya at the top. Well, at least for now. Hard pressed to support my assertions? Every time I walk on the streets my assertions are confirmed, every step, every breath, every hearbeat. But I do love it.
  18. Amen, brother!
  19. Le Bon Marche is a well known department store in Paris. Normally a bon marche is a "good deal" or "inexpensive".
  20. Pattaya is a dump; a dumping ground for men looking for women or other men and sex. It must be one of the sleaziest cities on earth. How it could ever become a family oriented playground is beyond me. Better for a family to visit the local sewerage treatment plant then bath in the waters here. The streets and sidewalks are filthy with dog shit, cigarettes butts and garbage. Trying to cross a street is nothing but assisted suicide. The infrastructure is falling apart if it even exists. I could go on but you all know this. There is only one reason to visit or stay here and it revolves around sex in some form. Yes, for the gay guy it is the best of the best, why else would I come here?
  21. Same as the Titanic, no visible damage except to those down below. And she did go down as one of the most bizarre occurrences in history.
  22. Most reassuring!
  23. I don't fear Soi dogs but those "rabbis"are another thing! Do they carry knives and do circumcisions on the unwary pedestrian?
  24. I surely had no intention to lecture anyone as to where their sympathies should lie regarding the death of Mr. Pape. In the same sense that RichLB's list of social skills were not directed to anyone in particular, but rather to enlighten, not chastise. "If" I have offended anyone then accept this as a most disingenuous apology. As far as the bizarre circumstances of his death I could easily explain the method but will not and their is nothing weird about it.
  25. Well spoken, Mark. A wonderful eulogy and, again, a reminder not to jump to conclusions concerning the deaths of others.
