  1. The hotel's security and the police were notified. Fingerprints were taken from the credit card and the safe. The employee was located and charges were filed. American Express removed the charge and everything turned out well. Someday, when you grow up and have a business, you'll understand why it is best not to trash people and business via the internet. As I am a guest and a visitor in Thailand, I choose not to make waves that could one day come back to haunt me. I would also advise anyone that is a visitor or on a retirement visa not to cause any trouble as causing a Thai to lose face can get you a death wish. Things as we know them in the west do not apply in Thailand. But again, you do as you wish.
  2. That is your right to do as you wish, just as it is my right not to disclose the hotel's name. There is no purpose in trashing anyone or any business. If they persist on doing the wrong things that particular hotel will eventually have their ability to accept credit cards taken from them. That would be punishment enough!
  3. I mention the incident just to make you aware of the problem with hotel safes. It would serve no purpose to name the hotel. Trashing a person or a business is simply something I care not to do.
  4. Mexican food is just plain hot from the chilies. The difference in Thai food is that in addition to the warmth from the chilies you have other flavors that you can actually taste. Mexican food is just plain boring compared to Thai food. In addition, Mexican food just isn't very healthy!
  5. Thanks for sharing the video. From my experience gay Rio is much better in person. The video doesn't do it justice. However, nothing compares to Thailand. The food and the culture in Thailand have most places beat by a mile.
  6. You can have a problem with room safes in even the better hotels. Once I was staying in a well known name brand hotel on Suriwong Road, Bangkok and my American Express card was removed and used to buy some jewelry in Chiang Mai. So, as safe as you think room safes are, they aren't.
  7. Posting anything negative about someone isn't the smartest thing a person can do. Unfortunately there are many older gossipy queens visiting and living in the Pattaya area that get great pleasure spreading rumors, lies and negative information about other people. If they would put all that time and energy into something more positive, such as volunteer work it would make Pattaya even better! If you are reading this board and have never visited Thailand or Pattaya, you can be sure that when you do visit you will have the experience of a lifetime. Don't believe all the negative information that is posted on the gay message boards as fact. Take the time, explore and make your own opinions.
  8. The value of a person is in no way related to the size of his penis. What disappoints some may not have any importance to others. Unless of course you're a size queen and then you're probably never satisfied.
  9. Southwest Airlines has been in trouble before for not following government mandated maintenance schedules for their planes. Just another example why low cost airlines are not always the best choice when flying in the USA.
  10. Standards, for food and service, have fallen over the last few years. However, you won't find a better place to enjoy watching the cute Thai boys that come into in the area. If you're just going there to drink then probably everything is about the same for you.
  11. That was not nice! Why attack Steve Jobs?
  12. Cheap package tourists are the mainstay of the Pattaya tourism population. As much as we despise the actions of the Russians here in Pattaya, they aren't the only ones that are an annoyance. A lot of the tourists around Pattaya are cheap skates that don't add much stimulus for the local economy.
  13. It was nice to see Steve Jobs on stage introducing the new iPad. Hopefully, he is feeling much better than he looks.
  14. A few of my trips to St. Petersburg, Russia were very nice and the people there were welcoming. However, visiting Moscow was quite different. The people in Moscow are peculiar and have that attitude that they are superior. We all know differently but try to convince them!
  15. Richard's has average food. The prices for food and drink are reasonable but what good is a low price when everything is substandard. Looking at the staff is far better than eating the food. But isn't that usually what is offered in Bangkok's gay restaurants?
  16. Larger companies have an in house travel agent or use a travel agent that is contracted with the company. This allows those needing travel services to call and get whatever they want, when they want it. If they have to change plans, cancel or whatever, the travel agent takes care of it without any hassle for the person using the services. This is an idea situation as you wouldn't want everyone doing his own bookings as they don't have experience with the airline rules, etc. Years ago, when I worked in the corporate world, this was the norm and still exists today for many larger companies. As for an individual needing airline services, the best travel agents I have used were in Bangkok. However, most of the time I book my own tickets on the internet. With airline loyalty programs you can get a bargain fare and still get your frequent flyer points. Use certain credit cards and get still more points. During certain airline promotions you can get double miles. Couple that with the miles from a credit card and you can usually rack up those miles at a record pace. Many corporate employees leaving the corporate world have upwards of a million or more miles banked and this gives them many free holiday trips. Maybe this explains why all the first class seats are filled on flights to Bangkok.
  17. It truly is off putting to see cum shows and farang trying to do all sorts of things that would be better left to their room at home. Do bar owners think this is wise to let their staff give so much for free? I've seen farangs go in for a half hour or so and then leave without a boy. Not so great for the bar or the boys!
  18. I don't mind walking from bus gates except when the weather is bad. Even the flag carrier, Thai Airways uses bus gates which, seems to me, not a great way to make Thailand appear as good as it could be to foreign visitors. When you're trying to impress the world how amazing Thailand is this leaves much to be desired.
  19. This is a poll for visitors and expats. Are you top, bottom, versatile or neither?
  20. I was referring to the styrofoam, usually molded, containers that they slip into a bag. I can understand with the others it would be a pain in the.....
  21. Google Translator works very well. I used it on a recent trip to Mexico and it had 100% accuracy. Looking forward to trying it in Thailand in two months.
  22. My only gripe about Suvarnabhumi is that every time I arrive in bad weather we're subjected to a bus gate. Everything else is very nice and quite enjoyable.
  23. For me yes, but I view reading publications as enjoyment, not for the information as it is sometimes flawed. I enjoy doing my own research. As an example The Wall Street Journal is a newspaper that business people read for information. I can't tell you how many timed they were wrong. Due diligence is the keyword here. With any investments there are risks. Many have seen their financial foundation be reduced 30%-50% in the last few years. It's just starting to come back for some. But for others, they've lost a bundle. I've always had a sixth sense about investing and have beat the market. I wish I could say the same on visits to Las vegas!
  24. I have been in the company of many Thai boys and although I don't like leftovers, they (the Thai boys) have all mostly taken any excess food away in a doggy bag. Sometimes for them and others have claimed they would give to a sibling or a friend staying in their room. Now, I'm not saying all would do this and I believe that possibly more educated or higher class would not like to be viewed this way. In the US many retired folks do this as the portions in most restaurants are huge.
  25. International Living does have information about tax havens, camouflage passports, investments, etc. Unfortunately, once they have you on their email list you get bombarded with all types of offers. Some are good and others are not. Even some of the information by their authors is suspect. If you do subscribe, be aware that there is a possibility of scams. My suggestion is always to look at everything on offer, do your own research, then make your own decision. If it were that easy to become wealthy, there wouldn't be so many schemes to take unsuspecting people in. Always remember that greed usually overrides common sense. Slow methodical investing doesn't give the huge returns that you can achieve in a successful business but for the average Joe, it is the only way to get to your goal.
