No way! Apart from the hassle of changing in Helsinki the fare is non refundable and you cannot take luggage without paying extra. I have had to change flights and cancel them at short notice in the past and both Eva Air and Emirates are very good at refunds. Additionally, I always take hold luggage. Who doesn’t?! Eva is also direct from LHR. - BKK. This week I have just bought a return Biz ticket with Eva departing London early December and returning in March. A little over £3000. Refundable, direct flight, and with 30 kgs of luggage. You have to be able to juggle the dates for the best deal though.

Are you sure they have ALL closed? 4 Step Tomboy bar Facebook site is up and running. We were in Wisper Tomboy Club just off Third Road on Saturday and it was busy. You have to be there quite late before it fills.

Funnily enough it seems to have quietened down. I suspect it is because of the lack of customers. Having said that JC was quite busy on Thursday evening possibly because of the pervious 2 days of enforced closure.

“Maybe Sunne is making a comeback” I wonder if you are right. A friend of mine, who works in the bar trade, told me that there are 5 bars opening shortly in Sunee Plaza. One of them is the old Doubleshot Bar (under a new owner). Im not sure whether i believe it…it’s definitely a wait and see matter!

I am there now as I love low season. Room rent very reasonable, always somewhere to sit, lads are not busy with other customers, Baht busses empty, easy to cross the road, restaurants have plenty of space etc., etc…Haha. Yes it’s quiet and I have heard several bars are up for sale. Some have signs outside saying for sale. Everything else is open, but obviously customers are down. This will of course improve later in the year. There are plenty of lads available and the massage places are maxed out with them.

I have been there a few times. The first time was during or shortly after covid and it was empty. We didn’t stay. The second time was last year and it was slightly busier. Didn’t like the fact that you had to pay extra for a comfortable cushioned seat so only stayed for one drink.Wouldn’t really recommend it. It is right next to Dragon Man Club which was raided and closed down. Think it is part of the same organisation, but I’m not sure. Short answer is that I wouldn’t bother with it. If you really want to visit a Tomboy bar there are a few in and next to Third Road and one between Boyztown and Third Road. I arrived at Savanabhumi last Wednesday at about 9 pm and also went through Fastrack. Quite quick and my bag was waiting for me. However there were lots of people in the ordinary queues. It didn’t do me much good though because the flight was nearly two hours late arriving but the Pattaya Limo taxi waited for me …bless him!

I was in Malta recently and two cruise ships were constantly in the port. The amount of passengers in Valetta each day was probably in the region of 5000. It really spoilt the place. All bars, restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions full to the brim.

Haha the same thing happened to me, except it was the bar tender at the Club 21 next door! He suggested I try Thailand even if I wasn’t attracted to Asian guys. So I booked a two week trip and spent half of it in Bangkok and the second half in Pattaya. When the two weeks were up I returned to the UK. A week later I was back in Pattaya, got a condo, and stayed 3 months! I have now been doing so for just under 20 years.

I can’t see that. If it was going to happen it would have happened 10 years ago. Sunee Plaza is a fair walk off the beaten track. The area is very run down and full of narrow roads and access is difficult. High rise buildings are usually positioned on,or near main roads for ease of access and also need plenty of parking space. In addition, as we well know, there is no real entertainment (gay or straight) in the area for those living there to enjoy. So I don’t see anyone building a high rise or anyone buying the units, if one was ever built.

I lived in HK for three years from 1960. Thee was no aircon anywhere. Not even at school. Never bothered me!

I noticed Jomtien seemed to get quieter from the end of February. Perhaps a little earlier than normal but if farangs took out the usual 90 day visas to avoid the European winter and left in early December, to take advantage of the cheaper fares before Christmas, then they would be due to return early March. Nothing unusual! I was one of them!

I use the chemist in the local Tescos for my prescriptions. The surgery issues me an annual prescription which I collect monthly. However Tescos will give me 3 months on request. ( provided there are at least 3 months remaining). I have not asked for longer. The other thing to bear in mind is that you are only supposed to enter Thailand with only one months worth of items. In nearly 20 years I have never been stopped and do not know anyone who has. It is recommended to carry them in your carry on luggage in case they lose your checked in baggage.

Aren’t they having an election in late May? Surely nothing will be announced until we’ll after that.

Anyone else having trouble in the last week or so? Sometimes I can’t even connect to the site at all. Often it is very slow to change pages…. if it changes at all. Or is it the problem at my end?

I did a tour of all the Gogo bars in BT last week. Visited them all including BBB but didn’t stay as the boys on stage were wearing a LOT more than I was!!

So when should you have had the vaccinations? I want to leave Thailand next week to visit Cambodia and return the here the following week. Will my two jabs done back in April and June 2021 (nearly two years ago) be acceptable?
