  1. How long are they issuing these 60 day visas for, or is it going to be permanent?
  2. The simple rule is: You either keep it and it goes grey, or you lose it!!
  3. Yes I have walked from near Boyztown to my condo in Jomtien. I did it after a haircut in Soi Hollywood and went past Sansuk sauna so was able to keep off the main roads. Also love walking along the whole length of Dongtan Beach and do it late at night (if I’m not in the bars). Safe and smooth pavements after the rebuild a few years ago. Very pleasant after temps have dropped especially if there is a wind off the sea. No crowds of tourists late on👍
  4. I’m actually in Pattaya now and we have had one day of slight rain in the last 10 days. Some days have had cloud cover which actually makes the temperatures more pleasant. No complaints! Some of the bars in Jomtien are very busy… you wouldn’t think it’s the low season at all.
  5. Hadn’t it been like that for ages? Same for its sister club at the other end of the street near Toyboys (can’t remember it’s name).
  6. I sent a reservation the other day and got the standard reply the next day confirming it. So no problem here. Used their normal website.
  7. The other place you need to consider visiting is Pattaya. I go there for 3 months in the winter and six weeks in the summer. I know you haven’t the time available at the moment. Pattaya has much to offer, a huge gay scene, beaches (or a sort) and is not as busy a city as Bangkok. You will find you have done the gay scene in Bangkok soon and Pattaya is well worth a weeks visit (or more).
  8. Yes very very bad. The Hanoi bar was jammed full. You had to stand tight against all the other people and could hardly drink your beer let alone get served at the bar. Had there been an emergency you would have been in a massive crush. I left. As regards the taxi. The fare should have been about $1. 50 each time. He was charged about $15. (whatever that is in ding dong money). Came back and said taxis are expensive here…almost the same cost as the UK. Then realised he had been done. Imagine if he was going all the way to the Airport…. Later read that most (all?) taxi drivers are dishonest.
  9. I remember reading a book about Sunee Plaze written by Micheal (forget his surname) who was the owner of Top Man Bar at the entrance to the Plaza. It was directly opposite Forest House. In it he describes how he went away for a week or two and left his bar in the hands of some of the staff. When he returned he found similar things had happened and had to get rid of the stuff too. Sorry cannot remember the title or the Authors surname
  10. Why not stay in a condo if you are there for 2 months? Not a problem in high season and even less of a problem in low season if only staying for a month. All the condos have a balcony.
  11. Actually closed on Tuesdays.
  12. I frequently take my evening walk along the length of Dongtan Beach and back. I used to pass numerous other Brits (you could tell by the language) but this time, in the last 2 1/2 months, I haven’t heard any. Same in Jomtien generally and in Pattaya. I do pass numerous farangs but unfortunately don’t recognise their language. So not Western European (German French Dutch etc) as I would recognise them.
  13. A little bit of basic maths… 350000/2 = 175000 fucks each. 50 years is 50X365 = 18250 days So 175000 fucks divided by 18250 days = 9.5 fucks per day EVERY day. No rest days or holidays. Typical press nonsense.
  14. Certainly a regular thing in Pattaya. No one wants to walk anywhere….except Falangs!
  15. Ive always known it as Swampy. It’s a common nickname, even if you’ve never heard it before!
  16. I guess you haven’t heard the expression about going on holiday? ” I should have taken half as many clothes and twice as much money!”
  17. He said 22 minutes, not miles. Anyway bit too far from Jomtien Complex. Many decent places a lot nearer.
  18. I realise this is only for accidents but if the cost is 200million baht per year and there are 30 million tourists per year that means the cost should be 6.6 baht per person. If it was extended to cover general illness which required hospitalisation then there would be an increase. Clearly wouldn’t be a lot. It would be interesting to know how many tourists actually end up in hospital and what the total cost is. Then divide it by the expected 30-40 million tourists per year. The actual figure per person would probably be very small. So why not add a minor addition to the airfares BUT make it quite clear that it covers hospitalisation costs. Doubt many would complain.
  19. See my thread. I was in Doubleshot tonight when it was raided at exactly 04.00.
  20. I was in Doubleshot in Jomtien this morning at 04.01 and taking a pee before leaving. As I left the toilet I passed about 10 personnel in uniform who were entering the bar. My ladyboy friend urged me to leave immediately, which I was going to do anyway. As tonight was the first night of legitimate opening until 04.00 ( which is why we were still there)this was obviously planned. Be interesting to see what happens.
  21. I believe there is a great deal of misunderstanding about the requirements. As the headline in the local paper says … ”Thai Authorities to Impose Sobering-Up Areas to Prevent Drunk Driving Amid 4AM Bar Closings” So if you are not driving it should not apply.
  22. If you ask a non Thai boy who you know, and who has been here a long time, you will be surprised at the number who willingly admit they are over-stayers. Shhhhhh!
  23. I now stay close to Jomtien Complex and so visit regularly. I do not think I have seen any Asian customers. Most seem to be expats or Europeans.
