  1. So far this thread is about 90% fighting and 10% informative information.
  2. I carry $100's as an emergency backup. I carry a card from transferwise now known as wise; to withdraw money from the ATM, and pay for purchases using the credit card convenience the card offers. I like that I can freeze and unfreeze the card from the app on my phone. I did notice that on my trip there in October I had some trouble finding a bank ATM that would accept the card. I used to go to Santander with no problem but this last trip they were a no-go. As far as securing my items I purchased a lightweight gun lock box from Amazon that is TSA approved and I put a rechargeable motion sensor on it. It has a wire cable you can use it to secure it around something in the room. xydle Small Smart Gun Safe Box for Pistols with Combination Lock, Portable Handgun Safe for Home Office, Car, Travel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095JY49BJ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_WS051Z3H672PDG46MWAB
  3. I forgot to mention you can use the app to transfer money from your bank account or a credit card or check deposit to load funds onto your card. And you can use an ATM to withdraw your money or you can use the card as a credit / debit card...
  4. I use wise formerly transferwise. Their service allows me to transfer US dollars into my account with them and switch it to other currencies. When I travel I can decide if I want to spend dollars Thai baht or euros. I also use it here in the USA transferring money to friends and also sending money to my old boyfriend in valley Indonesia.
  5. By the CDC map, I'm leaving the covid hotspot USA for Brazil.
  6. And Biden said he doesn't have the athority to mandate vaccine injections and yet...
  7. If everybody looks like models then that price is too much but if everybody looks like they're standing in line at the buffet on Christmas Day the price is too low
  8. The US is considering minting a 1 trillion-dollar coin to deposit at the fed to pay our debt. We're about to spend $3 trillion and interest rates are at zero. Here in the USA we can't point a finger and giggle at anybody...
  9. That makes things a little easier since I'm due to leave next week for Sao Paulo.
  10. I guess it depends on their relationship. It could be that the "rich" lover is sick and tired of his boyfriend creating secret bills for him to pay when the shit hits the fan. We don't know the whole story other than the GP had to go to the police to get his payment.
  11. In Thailand I was treated like a celebrity. The only time I experienced any racial issue was in Pattaya when a bar stopped me at the door because they thought I was Indian. They told me in the future, if the issue happened again, to tell the person at the door that I am American...
  12. Never been to Europe. I don't ever plan to... So the price for apples are not the same as the price for oranges I guess... I don't want to pay orange prices for apples.
  13. Why is it when people compare prices of almost anything in Brazil, they choose the most expensive places in the USA to compare it to? They do the same thing in Thailand. Don't want to pay the Farang rate for a motorbike taxi? They often ask "How much you pay in NYC?" Nothing... I don't go to NYC... Too expensive. I was talking with a guy from Romeo. He says he is not a professional but asked if I would buy him an Iphone as his was stolen. I let him know I was not buying him an Iphone. He told me that Iphones were cheap for us in the USA and he stressed that he did me a favor by not asking for the latest model. To him $500 USD is nothing to us Americans... If I am expected to pay American prices in a foreign land then why leave America? If a trip to Rio would cost me dollar for dollar as a trip to Miami or Hollywood then I would beat feet to Hollywood and Miami. If I am happy to make it rain cash in Brazil, that is me and I would not expect others to follow my footsteps. As far as money for the guys in the business, I see online hot guys asking for $100 brl and a few porn star guys asking for $500 brl. What is the standard? Who knows, when your max meets their minimum then everyone can be happy.
  14. I use to post a lot on the Thailand boards back when I use to visit Thailand... I probably had this username before I even started my 401K 🤣
  15. I made a mess in this post. I am just here cleaning up the fonts I spilled...
  16. I want to know more! I can relate to you in a way. The Thailand I experienced as a black man was a little different than the Thailand I read about on the gay forums where most contributors where Caucasian. Of course I had no idea if my experience was typical for others like me but I did know they were different than the norm of the message boards. Often the guys would seem to let their hair down and talk to me as if I was not one of the tourist they began to complain about. Some of them shared with me some of the tricks they used to get more money from the guys, showing me text messages as well as money transfer notifications. Only when it came time for me to settle up did they realize that they told me too much... Haha! I don't know if my interaction with the guys in Brazil is typical... So please continue to share, I'm sitting on the edge of anticipation!
  17. I've met some Awesome guys in Brazil using Grindr. One guy I still hope to meet again! I remember him telling me he was only in Brazil for a short time to earn some money. On my final night in Brazil he came to visit and had a friend tag along with him. That was a night I will never forget. I can still remember almost every inch of their bodies and if I try a little, I can remember their voices.. Grindr never failed me when it came to meeting guys, be it free or for $. I am sure when I return, Grindr will be the first app I will be using. My favorite ways to meet guys over the internet in Brazil. Grindr (App) Romeo (www.romeo.com) Viva Local (https://www.vivalocal.com/acompanhantes-gays/br) Skokka (https://br.skokka.com/acompanhantes-masculinos/rio-de-janeiro/zona-central/) Garotocomlocal (https://garotocomlocal.com.br/) Hornet (App) Jack'd (App) Recon (App & web) (www.recon.com) Dudesnude (www.dudesnude.com)
  18. Great advice! My first stop is Sao Paulo but I am sure your advice can be considered universal for the most part. ⭐ (Gold Star)
  19. In 2019 during my visit to Brazil, I used upgraded my (USA) T-Mobile service for international use. I think it cost me an Extra $25 USD to allow me to have 3G internet on my phone while in Brazil. It worked fine for the most part but it lost signal in the Subway. For those of you that didn't know, if you use google maps to guide you while on the subway, if it has internet connectivity, I till tell you waht direction to walk as you are underground headed to your train and it will tell you what stops the train is at and when to get off the train. It's pretty helpful for me with my vision problems... I am wondering what the local Sim Card's offer? I will be in Brazil for a little over 2 weeks in Sao Paulo and Rio. Any advice or reference links you could share on local Cellphone service would be appreciated.
  20. I just booked my tickets to Sao Paulo and Rio for October so I am thirsty for any info on SP or Rio nightlife.
  21. Can anyone offer up some advice on getting the required covid tests before your flight out of Brazil? Im wondering how difficult it is to get or how much legwork is required? Or is there an abundance of testing sites all over the tourist area that can provide the testing documentation needed?
  22. Just before covid the price for beers in the gogos was approaching 500 baht... Have the prices retreated any?
  23. What happened to the update? I could use a bit of a Rio heat memoir.
