wow. this thread and the obsession over it by eater peter is absurd and borderline psychotic. There's another poster writing about certain retiree destinations who won't continue. And I think there's a cadre of members here who wish he did. Everyone, PLEASE reach out to him and encourage him to come back and ignore the utter nonsense of this post. Agreed. Dimes (10 cents) as well !! Only the quarter should logically be in circulation these days and eventually that too can be phased out. Only around 15% of all monetary transactions are in cash anyway and as that decreases, the need for expensive, heavy hardware should be eliminated. The glacial pace of change in the US, however, likely means that's a pipe dream.

I can afford up front. But I'm fit and limber so all that money I save by sitting cattle class goes to arriving a day early at a 5* hotel, relaxing massage, great dining and sleeping off my jetlag. Plus I've got a bunch of extra cash left over for many a boy! It's amazing what a few hours of a tiny bit of discomfort can buy!

I'm baffled at the super high prices of almost all the hotels along Copacabana. Prices have doubled for what used to be reasonable, beach accessible, "nice" hotels. I'm all for letting the market forces work but what's going on?
