  1. I would have liked to have caught up and gone to a bar, but it's nearly time for me to depart for home. I was at The One on Friday night. Fortunately there was a bigger crowd than midweek. There were guys of all shapes and sizes. The customer numbers have been down recently. I think they need to have a sign outside advertising that it's a muscle bar. I'm sure that it's not universally known that Tawan is now The One As for the Quarter Saladaeng, it's my first port of call when I arrive in Bangkok. I like everything about that hotel. If only it could be placed where Quarter Silom is. When I am in Bangkok I spend some of my stay in On Nut, which is a long way from Silom, but often go in to Quarter Saladaeng for the breakfast buffet. I actually did that yesterday and afterwards sat by the pool. To my delight there was a stunning looking young guy there with 2 others, swimming and sunbathing, so I loitered longer than I intended. Maybe I should try to get there tomorrow. Anyway, enjoy your stay.
  2. In the past week I have stayed in Quarter Silom and Tarntawan. Once you have your bearings, most of the bars are within very close proximity. You certainly won't need transport to get around.
  3. Wow, thank you all so much not only for the speedy replies, but for the very helpful information. Well, I am a changed man now and I will go out in confidence to do an order, starting off with the "Ennuv" pharmacy mentioned in Macaroni21's link. I'll check out Pulse Clinic too.
  4. I want to go for a ride on the wild side and try sidegra or tadalafil. I don't know why, but I feel embarrassed about approaching a female pharmacist. Anyway, I went to Siam pharmacy, but the lady didn't understand when I said tadalafil, as I wanted the generic version. So I mentioned Cialis and she told me that it would be over 1000 baht, so I left empty-handed. So, my request is could someone please recommend a good pharmacy and how much I should expect to pay for a pack of 4. Maybe I could use a Thai translator app. I was thinking of the cluster of pharmacies along Rama 4 road, up the top of Soi Surawong, in particular Chuya MD, where you have to get a number before you can get served. There's also a very busy pharmacy near On Nut Big C, which is meant to be quite cheap.
  5. Old daddy, Babylon wasn't good....it was undeniably great. The hours that I spent there and I didn't even need to go to the bars. But that was many years ago. I went to Krubb sauna in Phra Khanong at the weekend. It's an easy walk from the BTS, but if you don't use Google maps, it might be a bit of a mission to find it. It's about 5 stories high so lots of steps to negotiate. After 8pm, the dark room was a seething mass of bodies. All sorts of ethnicities, ages and body types. The only thing that bothered me was the spa pool or onsen as it's called. After I had got in I noticed a lot of black specks floating around as well as a small feather and what looked like a pill. It needed a good clean. I should have pointed it out to the staff.
  6. As Vinapu said, a change of location can be beneficial, especially if you can find a hotel where you are able to store luggage, particularly in my case, as I don't know how to travel light. During my current trip I've stayed at Quarter Saladaeng, Quarter Silom, Siam Heritage and 2 hotels in On Nut. I'm seriously considering staying for a couple of nights at Tarntawan, as the Quarter Silom rates can vary significantly from day to day.
  7. I prefer to do my own thing in a lot of ways because then you're free to do whatever you want, without having to fit in with other people's plans. I've just returned from a 2-week holiday around various parts of Thailand with family members and a lovely Thai lady who married into the family. I went to various locations I would never had visited otherwise and I had good company, so I don't begrudge that, but I was very restricted in what I could do. So I was so pleased to return to Bangkok and I have already rung up a The One guy and will meet him shortly after a bit of a sexual drought. I like the idea of meeting up with others in the forum. I myself find it quite intimidating to enter an unknown bar for the first time and, as you say, it's great to have the company of others from time to time.
  8. The gym in Lumphini Park is definitely still there. For a very small fee you can have a workout and also buy bottles of water. This gym has a bench press with tyres on each side of the bar, which is quite a novelty. There was another gym too, but not as good. I don't know if that one is still there. Many hotels, such as Quarter Silom and Quarter Saladaeng have adequate gyms.
  9. I spend at least part of my stay in Bangkok at Quarter Silom, the only reason being that it's super close to The One bar. Early in my current visit, I walked through the alley to Silom and I too thought I would try 9-teen. This was my first venture at a gay massage parlour. There were 2 attractive guys sitting at the entrance and I thought that either of these would be perfect. Well... silly me. I was taken inside and handed over to another masseur who wasn't my type at all. I'm not the sort of person who would want to embarrass anyone, so I just decided to go ahead with it. I paid for the massage at reception, but there was no mention of a tip to be paid for "extras". All in all, it didn't work out the way I had planned. So my question to the regular members of the forum is this. Should I have said to either of the boys at the entrance that I would like one of them to be my masseur? And surely there should have been an indication about the cost of a tip for a happy ending too. I also like the suggestion of maybe having the massage in the hotel room, especially with Quarter Silom being only a hop, step and a jump away.
  10. Well, to get back to the topic, I think that I am the only dissenter. Seven days is nowhere long enough for me. Thailand is my only holiday destination every year and I like to take it at a leisurely pace. From the time of check-in and including a stopover, it's a 17-hour journey for me. If I arrive at 10pm Thai time, it's 3am at home and to be honest I don't feel like going to shows for a couple of days to allow me to get over the jetlag and adjust to local time. Of course, with the longer stay in Thailand, I won't be going to shows and getting massages every day, but there are so many other activities in Thailand to help pass the time.
  11. Thanks for your report, Spoon. It's certainly encouraging to know that there was a larger crowd at The One, as a couple of us have commented on low turnouts.
  12. Roughjock, sadly your experience echoed mine. Only 4 customers on the occasions I went. I agree that the guy "running the show" (I think he's the manager) was good looking and he also has good English. I have an arrangement with one of the guys to meet him outside One, pay the off fee and he can return later to do the show. However, I do intend to pay my entrance fee a couple more times before I leave Bangkok. I can't see how this bar can survive if the customers don't increase. Btw the S&M show I saw one night last week was a young guy who was whipped so hard that I started to flinch.
  13. My understanding was that the previous mama san had been involved with an underage boy.
  14. The numbers were very much down last week. It was closed apparently over the past holiday weekend. Well , at least if there aren't many customers you can basically choose any of the guys you like.
  15. I visited Tawan the last 2 nights. Sadly there were only about 4 other patrons there both times. Hopefully the weekend will see a larger number of attendees. There was a variety of physiques on display, but only 1 or 2 really big muscle guys.
  16. Thanks vinapu. Yes I did have fun and documented it in Bangkok bar shows thread. By the way imho the breakfast is far better at Quarter Saladaeng than Quarter Silom. My plan of attack is to stay at Quarter Silom, but go to Quarter Saladaeng for breakfast.
  17. I went to Tawan (One) bar last night. There were only about 4 customers there. Three boys were standing on the stage and a few others were sitting around, mainly glued to their phones. I remember the days when you would walk in and the boys would automatically come up and start fondling you. The purpose of my visit was to meet up with one of the guys who had left such an impression on me last year. Then he appeared and recognized me immediately. So back to the hotel we went. He was meant to be in the show which was due to start in 15 minutes. I told him I would wait for the show, but we decided to leave straightaway anyway. So I didn't get to see the show, but I will stay for it next time. Times are tough for these Tawan guys. No work for 3 months and now they have to put up with low patronage. I hope there will be a bigger crowd at the weekend.
  18. Thanks for the advice. I actually have tea-tree oil at home. I'll try to find some over here. By the way I am feeling better today. So will be planning to go to a bar tonight!
  19. I was given a 2 day supply of a medication called Apracur. Well, it's a good thing I read your post, Londoner, as I thought I would look up the ingredients and noticed that the first on the list was paracetamol, which I had also been taking alongside it.
  20. I agree wholeheartedly. Also coming to Thailand from a cold southern Winter as well as going from the air-conditioning at the hotel into the intense heat outdoors. I got a cold not long after arriving last July, but much worse this year.
  21. Honestly I was fine when I arrived in Bangkok, but now I'm coughing, congested and spluttering. I'm just going to head off to a pharmacy for some medication and hope to come right in a day or two.
  22. Thanks vinapu. Yes, I did notice that you can bypass reception. But to be honest I feel very fluey and lethargic at the moment, so I probably should take it easy and get a couple of early nights and try to recover.
  23. Sadly I have to prove you wrong, vinapu. I have just booked into Silom Heritage for 2 nights. Their rules and regulations state that there is a joiner fee of 900 baht. 😭 I searched gay guides last year and it was recommended as gay friendly, but also that there was a joiner fee. I should have listened to my gut instinct. On principle I will not be taking anyone back there and in a couple of days I will probably check in to Quarter Silom, where there is no problem.
  24. Maybe we have gone off topic, but it's an interesting thread. So may I bring in another angle, please? I'm just wondering about buffet lunches, that is if you haven't already over indulged at a buffet breakfast. I noticed that Ibis Styles had a buffet lunch for 250 baht, which seems very reasonable. So I am just wondering if anyone else has lunch recommendations.
