Thank you for your update, menaughty. I gather from your report that The One is still open. I assumed that it might have closed altogether, now that Atlas has provided competition. And with the glowing reports about Barcelona and Brazil, I feel tempted to consider different pastures the next time I plan a holiday, but I'll probably end up retuning to Thailand mid year.

Wow..... I might just have to return to Thailand earlier than planned

Old daddy, that comment to Londoner was harsh and uncalled for. As an Antipodean myself, I know that we are not immune from grumbling. That type of comment can drive people from the forum.

When I went to Nana this year, there were quite a few vendors on the pavement selling sexual items.

Well, it certainly sounds exciting, but, by the same token, it would be sad to see the demise of Tawan, which I understand has been the longest running gay gogo bar in Silom. It was certainly the first bat I ever visited in Bangkok. I guess many of The One boys will end up at Atlas.

Emi1981, that Grindr guy from Malaysia is exactly my type. I must say that you have exemplary taste in men!

The Tarntawan was actually reasonably quiet, given its convenient location. I could hear the sound of motorbikes from time to time late at night in the first room I was given. When I booked for an additional night, I was asked to go from my room with a double bed to an opposite room with 2 single beds. That room was absolutely quiet. I liked having a bath to soak in as well. I didn't try the breakfast. Visitors show their ID at reception. Siam Heritage was equally quiet. Both are good value. Quarter Silom is recommended for location, breakfast, gym, saunas, etc, though the pool location could be better Quarter Saladaeng is worth considering. It's further away from the gay scene, but within walking distance.

Saunas provide lockers and you can put the key around your wrist or ankle.

This thread is hilarious!!

I know that, from my own experience, there can definitely be a mind over matter connection. The attraction is definitely there, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.....even with the addition of PED'S. There are peptides available which increase sexual desire, but they're expensive.

My thoughts exactly. I find it to be the most intimate sexual experience. I can't tell you what it does to me when I see 2 bulky bodybuilders kissing and fondling each other.

It's certainly a gay friendly budget hotel. What I really like is that you can get inward facing rooms which get no noise at all from the bars.

I'm glad you got the thread back on track, vinapu. The only piece of meat I had during my recent visit to Bangkok was 'T' from Tawan. I offed him several times. Either I went to the show or arranged to meet him before or during opening hours. He's probably the oldest guy in the bar, but I like his physique very much and he was very obliging with my request to kiss, which is something I find very erotic. I think a lot of the bodybuilders who are GFP aren't interested in kissing. Having said that, I would have possibly liked to have offed one or two of the other bodybuilders, but I felt loyal to T, and I know he's not getting much business.

Thaiophilus, do they still stand to attention for the national anthem? Back in the day I would go to the outdoor gym at Lumpini Park and I remember the music coming over the loudspeakers. All the bodybuilders stopped doing their weights and respectfully stood to attention. I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago and went to the park in the early evening, and, tbh, I can't recall hearing the music being played. I think the shine for the royal family is fading somewhat.

I was upgraded at Quarter Saladaeng on my first visit too, to what was basically a small apartment. I felt so lucky. I agree with everything everything else you say about the hotel. You can walk to the end of the street, go over the bridge and you are in Lumpini Park. I wonder if you discovered the outdoor gym there, Olddaddy.

Just to add, the complex has several bars and there are adjacent hotels.

The map is clear. Jomtien Complex has several gay bars and is within walking distance from Dongtan Beach, where there is a very gay-friendly area, which is popular with tourists and locals alike.

Yesterday I visited various gay travel sites and forums to notify that Tawan had been resurrected. One of the sites clearly stated that it was closed. So, let's keep spreading the word. I want Tawan to be around when I next return to Bangkok. I agree with Tawan Forever that they need to spread the word themselves through the various social media sites. I am still in touch with one of the guys who works there (I took him back to my hotel a few times) and he said that he's getting next to no business. And, yes, I agree with Tawan Forever as to why you would want to have a drag queen at The One. I could go to another bar if I wanted that type of show.

Regarding your question about 9-teen, Olddaddy, don't get caught out the way I did, which I documented in another post a few weeks ago. Two stunning guys called out to me when I was walking past, and I thought that either of them would suit me well. One of them directed me inside and matched me up with a guy who was absolutely not my type of all. I'm not the sort of guy who would cause offence, so I just went along with it, albeit rather reluctantly. I was not offered a choice of masseur, nor was there discussion about a tip. So, learn from my mistake. I should have asked if either of the boys would be my masseur or whether I would have a choice inside. Also, what tip they would expect and what service could be provided. Needless to say, my session did not give me a happy ending.

Hey, macaroni21, I'm really sorry to tell you that it's just a hardcore gym, which is down on Sukhumvit 56 and is a fairly long walk from On Nut BTS. As mentioned, there is no air-conditioning, just overhead fans. Lots of guys to ogle at in between workout sets.

Last year there were full-on sex shows at Tawan. Maybe the sex police put pressure on the bars. As with Tawan Forever, Tawan was the only bar I visited during my recent holiday in Thailand. I much prefer the muscular builds. And I stayed at Quarter Silom for a few nights, as it was only a hop, step and jump away. Tawan Forever, I wonder if you ever visited Muscle Factory in On Nut, which is a magnet for many bodybuilders who visit Bangkok.

I have a Thai niece and she recommended AIS. I organized to have it topped up before I left Thailand recently, so that it won't have expired before I next return.

Sorry, I edited the above message and stuffed up Verchiele's quotation.

You are given a small towel.... and I do mean small. Many guys wore underwear too. Most guys seemed to be covered up . However, you were told to be naked during the "show".
