An excellent thread, but many casual visitors will miss it since most never realise that there is a separate "Gay Thailand Businesses" section. I have never really understood the logic of that. You do, after all, have people posting about visits to massage parlours in the Gay Thailand section as well as massage place reviews here. There is no natural division. This thread would probably sit more sensibly in the Gay Thailand Businesses section, particularly since you have had people adding in what are essentially trip report notes rather than actual Comings and Goings of Bangkok venues. Besides, it would definitely be of broad and general interest. Nice to see the old Dream Boy site coming back to life. I miss having my view blocked by that giant pillar.

It is standard for to be charged for the time that a host or hostess spends with you in Thai-style host bars or karaokes. The charge will either be on an hourly or half-hourly basis, depending on the policy in each venue. The going rate in most Saphan Kwai hostess bars is about 200 baht per half-hour, per girl that you invite over to sit with you. Not sure how that compares with what you had to pay at Hi Club, but I assume that it was somewhere along the same lines.

Thanks for the update on how Circle Pub is doing. Could you give an idea of which host bars the guys from New My Way are now working in? That was, essentially, what I was asking. My question is specifically about the guys from New My Way, rather than about AA or Shan bar boys in general. Where are the guys working now? Which bars and where are those bars located? My question was initially directed at Jens as I assumed he might have an idea. An answer from anyone with direct knowledge would be welcome though.

Very happy to hear that Adam's Apple is doing well and that Circle Pub has reopened. Sad to hear about the owner of New My Way. I thought that he might have moved back to the South. Do you have any idea where most of the boys from New My Way are working now or which bar has similar types of guys?

No idea what planet you are travelling from but those prices seem out of this world. Prices from NYC to Bangkok in January on business class can still be had for under $4,000. Skyscanner.com has great deals, as usual. I looked at some of the options and put in the dates of 17.01.2023 for departure and 31.01.2023 for the return and the best options seem to be on Turkish Airlines. which is a perfectly good airline. Some of the results below. 26 hours on the way up and 24 hours on the way back for $3,844. Pay a few hundred more ($4,150) and Turkish Airlines will even get you there in 21 hours and 45 minutes. Ah well, at least people can take a walk down memory lane now, even if it's only halfway down the lane. Hopefully they won't build some big monolithic building and we will still be able to identify the former locations of our favourite bars when walking through whatever it is that eventually gets built. Since Bangkok is expecting a major glut of office space over the next two or three years, perhaps they won't start work on anything permanent for a while to work. More of those open-air "spaces" would be welcome in the meantime.

Having spent this past weekend at Le Siam, I can say that there was hardly any noise at all. They are now installing the glass in that building. Most of the heavy construction work appears to be done.

Two of the better known tailors in Bangkok are the Rajawongse Clothier and the Raja Tailor, both on Sukhumvit. Rajawongse dressed every US president from Reagan to Obama and the business cards on the wall of their changing room reads like an international who's who. They also dress most of the US Secret Service agents based in Bangkok. Their house cut is more to the American taste than to the British one. So, if you prefer your suits more fitted and double-vented, be sure to state that from the outset.They are practically right outside the Landmark Hotel. Incidentally, the chaps who own the Rajawongse Clothier also own the Radisson Blue hotel in Sukhumvit. That tells you how popular their tailor's shop is. The rival Raja Tailor, on the other hand, is run by the brother of the guy who owns Rajawongse and they have their own list of celebrity clients. You get a more personalised service at Raja. The owner's daughter is a pain in the neck , but his son is a pleasure to deal with. The real Raja Tailor is located on that bit of Sukhumvit Road almost directly across from Soi 11, where the Ambassador Hotel is located. If you are standing at the mouth of Soi 11, the Raja Tailor will be on the opposite side of Sukhumvit Road, diagonal at about 2 o'clock. You probably won't see it immediately though, because it is now hidden behind the pedestrian overhead bridge. Take note though, that if you are standing at the mouth of Soi 11, immediately to the left will be another tailor shop with a huge red signboard saying "The World Famous Raja Tailor" or something like that. That is a completely fake one trading on the name of the original one, which is now hidden behind the overhead bridge. Both these shops started-out during the Vietnam War era and are well-established. I used to use the Rajawongse, which still has a slightly better selection of fabrics, but I switched to Raja because it has better service.

Is JJ Karaoke even still open? I know that the Hot Man karaoke on Soi Pothole / Soi Chaiyapoon has closed down. I think that their site is now a cannabis bar. Are there any new, equivalent venues that have opened-up in Pattaya?
