  1. I found the people more friendly in Gensan,it reminded me of Udon Thani People driving past actually waved at me , even cars at traffic lights directed me to cross the road .
  2. I used Grinder in Manila, had a few free non money boys , a few moneyboys ,prices wanted in Manila varied from 1000 pesos (700b) to 2000
  3. I guess it's " convenience"& comfort in using a air conditioning Grab car rather than a baht bus. The majority of us are old ,and with being old you can become lazy just like me 😃 Sometimes just for comfort & convenience I used a Grab to go from jomtien complex to Pattaya, rather than walk up the hill, wait in the heat for the baht bus then spend the next 20 minutes stopping and going with people crowding in with you .
  4. Problem with that green seat , is they line up for the toilets hovering over you I was in seat which is just opposite you,I look up from my aisle seat they are all lined up for the toilet standing over me , for now on anywhere near toilets for me is a no go . People I found out are fascinated by toilets even on a 1 hour flight .
  5. The last few months of traveling I took several flights, Philippines airlines, and Cebu Pacific, To me seating is very important,I can't travel for more than a few hours without feeling cramped so have to end up flying Business class most times I'm 98kg so not overly heavy A few weeks ago I done the most stupid thing,I booked a flight from Manila city to a city in the south of the Philippines called General Santos City,it's a 1 hour flight so I looked online and booked what I thought were great seats ! As soon as I got on Cebu Pacific flight , yep , I thought this is great the 3 seats right up the front of the plane were to myself,I looked back in the plane to see other seats all crowded 😳 little did I know ,the toilets were right next to my seats !!!😳So every few minutes someone would walk the aisle right in front of my seat nearly trampling on my feet to get past to the toilet, I ended up without asking moving seats ,never book the very front of the plane seats guys if you see a toilet right next to it ,I soon learnt. As for economy I travelled Bangkok to Manila, Philippines airlines economy seats 70k aisle seat ,which is also near the toilets, 3 seater I had the aisle seat, a large Filipino who looked more Hawaiian/islander sat next to me and kept pushing me, a baby in the next seat crying and wailing for the 3.5 hour flight ,the second economy flight I took, Manila to Bangkok I bring headphones 😃 I looked up ahead in the aisle to see a very very large old farang in the aisle seat with half his body out into the aisle, I heard the staff pushing the trolley up the aisle keep saying excuse me to him,how embarrassing for him😳 People lined up stretching past my economy seat 70k seat for the toilets, breathing & coughing over me standing above me A few days ago I flew Philippines airlines Manila to Sydney seat 3K in Business class, the whole seat to myself flat down bed , great food, and that 8 hour flight went so quick , I could never never travel 8 hours in economy, Business lounge Louis at Bangkok airport was great ,a large separate dining area with relatively great food , free wifi, great coffee When I got to the outdated ninoy Aquino airport in Manila went to the crowded business lounge there wasn't the best but ok to sit for the 4 hour transit ,it seems it's the only business lounge in the airport which became crowded very quickly Manila airport looks like the old Don meung in Bangkok only more outdated, small dark , they really need to build a modern airport But I'm very stingy sometimes and don't like to spend money so just for the 3 hour flight I probably will still fly economy and sit with all the baby's crying and people listening to YouTube loudly etc 😅😅 Anyone here flown first class though ,I noticed Philippines airlines has no first class now On another note Philippines airlines now I noticed have "Premium economy," I noticed this was in front of normal economy class area ,I flew Business so no idea about it ,but I looked back when the curtain was open it seems the seats are bigger ,so you guys on the larger side may consider that instead of normal economy Just on that, you guys who are on the larger size just like me,do you still fly economy ? I actually feel empathy for the farangs I saw who were very large sitting in economy,I'm 98kg myself so I even found it difficult cramped for the 3 hours so if that farang I saw was I would say 150kg plus just imagine that flight for him.
  6. I'm looking at Philippines. Dumamagette,Palawan and even General Santos City
  7. General Santos City,or Gensan for short is a city in the southern part of the Philippines,it's more a country type city . It even has its own international airport although you can't fly there directly from other countries, you have to change at Manila airport. Gensan is known as the "tuna capital" of the Philippines and will hold the tuna festival in September for those interested. I found General Santos City the best out of all the cities I visited. There's no condos there or skyscrapers,it's a large country type city where the people are friendly and cheap prices . As for guys I had 8 in 2 weeks and the majority didn't want pay ! Two asked for trycycle money to my hotel ,(100 pesos) another asked for 1000 pesos (about 700baht) the others were bisexual guys in the tuna industry looking for quick fuck for free. They were all tops and a few had tattoos and most were either married or had girlfriends,I got them all of grinder. General Santos City ( Gensan) has a few 4 star hotels one a 4.5 and also a casino inside the hotel. Country city like this is worth a visit esuif your in your mature years because the bisexual guys on Grindr are horny for new ass , very few farangs are in Grindr in Gensan , I saw a few backpackers only . So guys I ask you to explore rather than just go to Thailand every year ! Try the Philippines!!! Especially country cities like general Santos City & Davao,2 of the most safest cities in the Philippines!
  8. I walked everywhere no problems,Manila is over policed by private security police on nearly every corner No one bothered me except a few beggars , I'm sure I would find it more scary in the USA Its seems it's a bit of a myth saying how dangerous it is, I would rather walk through Manila at night than say some Country Cities in Australia at night.
  9. I recommend you hire a gayguide for the first few days then you will be confident walking alone Far better to be alone you will get boys approach you rather than they see someone with you
  10. 60baht?😳 Last few weeks they were charging/qouting me from 80 to 100 from jomtien complex to Boyztown !!😃😃 Mind you I just paid 100 b usually include the tip 👍👍
  11. You could get a Grab of course or more time on your hands a baht bus But it's a hassle especially if your going to take Boyz from the go go bar back to your room. That would mean arranging transport from Boyztown to jomtien for you and boy(s) and obviously bigger service fee in relation to the moneyboy
  12. Well not really. If you sold your house in farangland wherever that may be ,and make Thailand your home then it's going to be expensive to go back to your own country unless you had somewhere to stay cheaply.
  13. Yes not a good idea to sell up everything in your own home country and then be left with nothing if Shit hits the fan.
  14. Very interesting, What kind of things made you think otherwise Scott? Did you base your stay in Pattaya and/or Bangkok areas ? What was your daily routine, was it far different than your normal one where you live?
  15. Very nice, I probably won't stay there however 😃
  16. More boys to choose from in jomtien complex, however .....the "tops" are mostly in Boyztown. Massage areas jomtien complex full of boys massage shops (twink types) I guess depending on the length of your holiday, you can spend a week in jomtien complex and a week up at Boyztown
  17. Dumamagette or Palawan in Philippines, a lot of farangs. Philippines has also a lot of handsome boys , and very loving of older mature western men, a lot less moneyboys than Thailand in my experience there the last few months although I don't like Manila I like Davao City and parts of Cebu/ Mactan island etc. Filipino boys seem to be more boyfriend type experience than the Thai boys I experienced
  18. I think once I retire fully ( I'm still not retired at 62) but once I do I may consider a few months a year in Pattaya, but as someone posted above ,you can meet guys anywhere nowadays via apps and there are gay bars in nearly every city ,so why Pattaya ?
  19. That link to Utopia travel was very interesting read , it did happen nearly 20 years ago but nothing has changed. That matter was caused by the Australian government at the time but nothing has changed in Australia the people & media are still homophobic to a degree . Of course this sort of stuff went in years ago where pedophiles did prey on children in Thailand but in them days they linked gay men to that and pedophiles should never be thought of as part of the gay community. I often cringe sometimes when I read on gay Asian forums the use of the word "boys" to describe young men of 18plus ,the Karen's will soon have a field day when they start reading these forums .
  20. Very interesting link As for gay tour companies I can see a future, but I think they will concentrate on the middle aged wealthier gays particularly the gay couples ,I very much doubt Pattaya will be high on their list, many I see like the Greek islands,Turkey,Boracay ,Rio ,I doubt moneyboy Pattaya has much appeal for middle-aged gay couples . Even the mature aged gay man as you mentioned now can use apps & far far more gay destinations
  21. I guess you would leave behind family, friends? Maybe medical services you don't have to pay for . I just can't see the same level of gay farangs living in Pattaya say in 10 years like there is now,and even now many of the older ones have left and are slowly leaving. I'm not sure how the gay beer bars are surviving,I guess to many owners it's just a hobby.
  22. Would be quite interesting to see just how many gay farangs are nstill retiring to Thailand particularly Pattaya The current 50yo to 65yo age gay farang group is very different to the generation of 25 years ago. More wealthier, more knowledgeable, far more different,I don't think as "settled", I can't see the new generation of gay retirees doing what the past generation did Do any of you agree with that?
  23. I'm not sure I heard right but I had a aussie expat farang a few weeks ago in Pattaya telling me was paying 15,000 baht a month? Maybe I heard wrong,it was either 15k a month or 150k a year ,now if your on a limited income eg Aged pension then it's a bit difficult to afford that . As for travel insurance I have no sympathy for those who travel overseas for a few weeks and fail to take it out!
  24. I guess you have to have " interests' or hobbies , or you perhaps you may have a boyfriend or a lot of friends you enjoy being with ? I'm more unfortunately introvert ,I also suffer from depression sometimes . Perhaps if I didn't go there to retire with that mindset of looking only for sex and actually looked for other things in my lifestyle it would be ok, but I didn't those few months, I just sat all day at beer bars
  25. I did miss a microwave actually, needed for those times I bought a pie or sausage roll from nearby Tinnies and wanted to hear it up later I stayed at the Zing resort, you can get a room with balcony overlooking pool for around 800/900 baht a night. Cheaper options with no balcony from 700 baht a night I believe, but I needed a balcony .
