Maybe it's clear to other readers but not me, but are you intending to relocate to Thailand with a current boyfriend who lives in your home country ... who is not Thai? Or have you met a Thai abroad or online and intend to live together in Thailand? I'm interpreting your remarks as both of you are non-Thai Americans.

I was traveling in Mexico for several weeks earlier this year. I've begun traveling with a battery-operated combination Carbon Monoxide / Smoke Detector this past several years. Leaving Mexico City I was asked at check-in if there were any batteries in my checked bag. I said yes, in the CO2 / smoke detector. Big mistake. All of a sudden security showed up and I had to unpack my tightly packed bag to retrieve the device which security took and asked me for them to return. 20 minutes later and an angry line of people waiting behind me ... the device was returned. I was told the batteries were fine, but some devices (not the one I travel with) include objectional / risk possible parts and that was the reason for the inspection. So much for being honest! But I learned a lesson and was surprised at the vigilance and professionalism of those at AeroMexico I was dealing with.

Many years ago, I was in the Medina and approached by a handsome young man (who else?) who told me he was a student and asked if I would like to accompany him to his room for sex. Who me? Duh! A novice in Marrakech, I jumped at the opportunity. He led me through a couple of streets and into a park he said his room was on the other side of. Once deep into the park he announced he was robbing me and appeared to pull a knife (don't know if that was what it was). I quickly punched him in the face knocking him down, ran out of the park calling for the police (in Spanish, LOL! ๐) and encountered a friend of his on the way who was afraid what happened to his friend. We live and, with some luck ... we learn!

Thank you. Yes, that's what I've found elsewhere. Though, when I lived in Mexico City I'd get middle of the night calls after bars closed from former tricks looking for a place to crash for the night, or a day or two ... and how they would perform in bed! I turn my cell off at night now, wherever I travel (and at home). My situation is a bit different than most others here. In addition to being 75 y.o. (of which I'm only one of that group here), I've dealt with prostate cancer surgery - and the aftermath. I've gone from a sometimes-versatile anal top to engaging, primarily, giving oral (which I do enjoy). My field of play is narrower, though. My sex drive is less than before. Not to fret though. Some physical/body contact ... sucking some cock ... a bit of kissing ... I'm okay with it. Adapting to my environment. I'm also focused on exploring the culture of the countries I visit, not just the sex opportunities (perish the thought!). Therefore, a tryst before bedtime is satisfying. I enjoyed decades of a very active sex life, wonderful times; literally hundreds of sex partners ... all the while escaping HIV/AIDS during my most prolific years. ๐

I haven't traveled in Thailand for ... years. But my travel style for my next trip there won't be different than it is in other foreign travel.

Don't believe everything you read. ๐ Youth, stamina ... and endurance training obviously play a part. Been there, done that. I'm happy if I'd have a couple of good hook-ups a week when traveling. I don't do the bars much anymore, don't want an overnighter, and want to be home before 10 p.m. Yes, I'm old now. ๐

Mexico City is, without a doubt, the No. 1 gay city in Mexico largely due to the size of the population in the metropolitan area there.

Unless you're in a hi-rise that's collapsing.

The accused were tried in a court, evidence presented, defense presented ... and were found guilty. End of story. The convicted should remain incarcerated until their term ends or in accordance with DOJ standards they are released.

If the report is accurate, I agree with you and think few will disagree.

Common sense suggestions. Thank you.

Yet no talk of the other bodies found there? If they were involved in perpetrating scams ... then I have no sympathy for their passing.

Lots of good advice thus far. I think BlkSuperman offers a good first-timer, timid traveler option.

Do you look up climate data before planning a vacation?
Mavica replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
I live adjacent to a cruise departure port and have taken just one cruise a couple of years ago ... because it was departing close to home (40-minute drive). No travel to another city required. It was a cruise to Mexican ports, etc. and I went solo, took no $150 excursions, no expensive drink packages (but brought a couple of bottles of wine with me). I'm interested in the repositioning cruises from Florida, though; might do one. However, IMO cruises (generally) are one of the most expensive modes of transport / travel for a solo traveler (departing from the USA). -

Yes, I always look up weather reports / history for destinations I travel to. -

Police kill terrorist in New Orleans (not for Vinapu)
Mavica replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
And ... in this instance ... the perpetrators, in New Orleans and Las Vegas (to a lesser extent) have active or retired military backgrounds. Others, I don't recall that they wear camo. -

Yes, there are parts of Mexico in which such fears are justified and where heinous acts occur, and innocents lose their lives. We always think it won't happen to us. No matter, or almost nowhere we live. Until it does. -

Not a place for the stereotypical conservative Midwestern farm family to wander about on vacation (other than NYE). -
Sad to hear this.
