Yellow journalism/demonizing a community, or legitimate news story?
Pete1111 replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
Whether reporting the details of age, hometown, sexual orientation and mugshot of the arrested passengers was in the public interest or yellow journalism is debatable. Outfits like The Advocate, Out.com, Instinct, and Queerty are so full of lurid, trashy stories, nothing they report surprises me. Click-bait is at the center of their revenue stream. I don't believe the public needed to know so much personal information about the Miami arrests. It rubs me the wrong way. The local media in Miami also reported much of arrest details. As a gay man, it's easy to feel like they were treated like zoo animals, on display for everyone to see. ------------------ The cruise ship might have been willing to bargain with you regarding the upgrade, if it's money on top of what they already collected from the perps or others that failed to board. They probably have a proprietary process in place to deal with it. Remember boys, the Internet is forever. -
One might wonder how an 88 year old man inserted a shell into his anus. Not an easy task, right? Was he squatting down on it?

What a grotesque horror! 🤮 Will it serve as a reminder of the timeline in our history when the US went to shit?

Trump bankrupts yet another one, The Kennedy Center.
Pete1111 replied to Stable Genius's topic in Politics
Bankruptcy is a good thing for Von Shitzinpanz. He loves not having to pay his creditors, claiming that his use of bankruptcy laws is brilliant. Trump has even floated the idea of US bond default. I wonder when corporate America will admit supporting the GOP has soured. Can they be happy with all of Diaper Don's shenanigans? As long as the worker bees can keep funneling adequate tax revenue into this house-of-cards, perhaps the show can go on, except at the Kennedy Center, of course. -

Now that TikTok is run by investors accused of proliferation of fascist and neo-Nazi content, and blocking Democratic thought, one might ask "should we bother responding to TikTok trash." It's as if "I have no dog in this fight"

Long after 🍊 is taking his dirt nap, will any of the victims ever spill the list of names they threaten to create? Doubt it. Predators are protected by law enforcement, the judicial system, corporates media, and lawyers.

🐕 Weighed down by the crushing burden of his life, his family's hatred, his emptiness, why voice anything at all when they never listened?
-
That's a good point. Under our system, a candidate without a large base of monied supporters might not advance too far in politics. Sorry to be fussy, but when I hear "Green Party" I will never not think about Jill Stein in Moscow, dining with Vlad Putin and QAnon conspiracist Michael Flynn. More recently Stein claimed how Democrats spread flagrant lies about US immigrants, that Latinos should support her. Putin likely continues to love Jill and her Democrat-hating jargon. Yeah, I know, I complain about the Dems too. But Dems are nowhere as evil as Stein claims, and are a far superior choice vs. the GOP.

I like Jack Smith. From the beginning, he impressed me as a no-nonsense, effective prosecutor. He would bring integrity, no matter what the MAGA playbook claims about him. Would he choose that path, to run for office? Perhaps he could serve as AG under the next term, if not special prosecutor for Trump administration crimes. But after dealing with the current judicial system, e.g. Aileen Cannon, and also the Gavel Gang at SCOTUS, one might not blame Jack Smith if he washes his hands of the US political system.

Then one might expect Senate Dems to block DHS funding, even if it means another shutdown. They either mean it or they don't. Elsewhere, John Fetterman, Bill Maher's favorite Democrat in the Senate, announced he will not support defunding ICE.
-
Yup. "Defund the police" was turned against the Dems by the GOP playbook. "Abolish ICE" has a good chance of hurting the Dems in the same way. Perhaps these drama queens should work on actual initiatives how to diminish ICE, because jumping up and down and screaming about it just shows their hand to the enemy. Someday the Dems will figure out how to stop losing.

They are racist mother f*ck*rs. The first Nuremberg trial will be in Minnesota.

You don't think Tab Hunter was gay? Think again! -

I sat next to a woman in the audience that attended school with and knew the younger version. He was definitely preferred! 😉 -

To be the contrarian to the thread, when I attended a screening of Tab Hunter Confidential, he appeared on stage afterwards for the Q&A. At the time he had reached 80 and still looked quite trim and still handsome. I hope to keep it all together as I age, like Tab Hunter did. Of course he was born with good looks and he lived right. Some things we control and some things are just fate and genetics. To the OP, frankly I don't appreciate these before/after articles. They're one more version of Internet click bate without much of a redeeming message. -
Is It really 10 Years Since He Died?
Pete1111 replied to PeterRS's topic in Theater, Movies, Art and Literature
I remember when he died. He had a lot of fans. I never get tired of watching Sense and Sensibility. I own that one. 🙂 -
Heated Rivalry remains a popular series , streaming around the world. However, in countries such as Russia it is blocked.

@stevenkesslar since you brought up "Lying Money People", may I ask a question about this image from the beloved NYT? Is it wrong of me to refer to RED ARROW guy as that evil, greedy, piece of sh!t, f@gg0t? I want to do the right thing so just thought I could ask this. Let me know how to be better. FYI this image is from the shot taken by the NYT at the Ford plant today. Bless you NYT, doing all that you do.
